First County Title for 2020..
It's still only February but the Club has captured a County title. Not on the playing field but on the stage in Ovens was where success came in the County Final of the GAA Talent Competition, Scor. Having captured the East Cork Nuachleas (Novelty Act) in the Divisional Final in Lisgoold a few weeks back it was on to the County Final at the Eire Og Club Pavilion in Ovens last Saturday night. We were up against Carbery Rangers and Millstreet. It went well though we were very tight with the ten minute Rule. When the results were announced Bride Rovers with 'Heavenly Hurling' were declared the winners, our seventh County Title in this particular competition. Next up is the Munster Final in Cappamore, Co. Limerick at the end of March. The cast was John Arnold, Mossy O Sullivan, Marie Gubbins, Donal O Leary, Carol Marie Dooley and William O Leary. We took part in the Storytelling/Recitation Section also with no luck here.
TWO GAMES ON SUNDAY. We had games home and away last Sunday. Our Senior Hurlers were away to Glen Rovers in the Glen Field while the under 15 footballers were at home.
Details Bride Rovers U15 had their first Premier 2A football league game of the year last Sunday at home in Pynes pitch in Rathcormac. The opposition was provided by St Nicholas. For this group of players it was their first time playing in Premier football. After all the rain the ground was soft underfoot it made the game really difficult and tough going for both sides. Bride Rovers moved the ball really well all during the match. We were leading by three points with a minute to go. St Nicholas came back and scored a goal to level the match. The score finished up Bride Rovers 4 goals and 5 points and St Nicholas 5 goals and 2 points. Next match is with Kiltha Og on Sunday 15 March in Castlemartyr at 4pm. Bride Rovers team Oran Kielty, Eldon O'Connor, Luke Harrington, Darragh Kielty, Denis Cashman, Cillian Barry, Ryan O'Callaghan, Adam Hynes, Cormac O'Sullivan, Kieran Cotter, Colin Hogan, Ronan O'Riordan, Louis Roche, Cillian O'Sullivan, Kieran Ryan, Ciaran O'Dowd, Gearoid Gubbins, Jack Keating,
RED FM Hurling League, Division 1.
We travelled to Blackpool on Sunday morning to take on the Glen. The home side were missing Horgan, Downey and McDonnell due to Cork duty and injury but still had a strong team out. Points came on a regular basis for both teams in the first quarter. The Glen got a succession of scores to lead by 8/5. A point from a free by Conor Barry followed by a Brian Roche goal put us 1 6 to 0 8 ahead. There was a flurry of scores in the last five minutes of this half and at the short whistle the Glen were back in the lead by a point 1 11 to 1 10. The second half followed the same pattern with both teams trading scores. We finished strongly to win by 1 18 to 1 15. It was good start to the league campaign. Brian Roche contributed 15 while Conor Barry added 4 from frees, Paddy 3 from frees. Conleith Ryan and Daniel Dooley scored two each and Michael Collins and Ryan Prendergast added a point apiece.

Sports Prediction Quiz.
It’s Sports Prediction Quiz time again. This fundraiser has been a great success for the Club over the last few years. This year we have selected 21 National and International Sporting events from March til October of this year. The first event is to predict the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and the final prediction to be made is to pick the winner of the Cork Premier Senior Football Championship. For all your predictions you are given four possible ‘winners’ or if you want to pick someone else you can select ‘Other’. Different points are allocated to each selection and whoever accumulates the most points will be the winner. Tickets priced at €10 are now on sale from Club Members. The Closing date for entries is march 9th so do join up straight away. If anyone gets the 21 predictions all correct a grand prize of €3000 is on offer. If there is no 'all-correct' entry it's the best points total. In that case we are giving prizes of €500, €200, €100 and two prizes of €50 each.
