Tom Cotter RIP-older than the Club...

On Tuesday morning last I got an email from Fr Seanie Barry in Kenya. He had heard of the death of Tom Cotter of Bartlemy village. Fr Seanie wrote "He was a stalwart, a great Christian man and Bride Rovers and Bartlemy man who served his community well." Truly a very apt description of a great man. Tom was 95 and had lived at home until a few months ago. His wife Mary Anne died ten years ago. Between them they gave great help to Bride Rovers overs the decades. They washed the jersies for the hurling and football teams as well as the ladies Football teams for years. Tom served as Football vice chairman with the Rovers and with Tom Barry and the late Martin Murphy was a selector on the 1981 Junior B East Cork winning football team. He was of the ladies Football Club as well as a selector in the 1970's.A lifelong supporter of the Club Tom attended games all over the County following the Rovers. He always subscribed to draws and raffles and every fundraiser we ever had. We send our deepest sympathy to Tom's sister Maureen, niece Mary and all his relatives and friends.

Under 21 s Draw.

It finished 8 points apiece between ourselves and Castlemartyr in Rathcormac last Saturday in the East Cork Round Robin u 21 FC. In truth we staged a great recovery but the game ended in controversy. We were down 8 points to 2 at half time having played against the gale. With five minutes left we had drawn level at 8 points each. Then the referee blew the final whistle. There was easily 5 minutes to go and we we were well on top at the time. Now we must travel to Cobh on Friday night and try and get a result there. Team; Ben Hogan  Ruairi O Sullivan Paddy O Flynn  Oisin Roche  Matthew Quinn  Eoin Roche  Tom Murray (Capt)  Kieran Kearney  Conleith Ryan  Tomas Macak  Cian Hogan  Conor Barry  Brian Roche  Jordan Mannix  Shane O Flynn Edmund Cashman.

Sports Prediction Quiz.

It’s Sports Prediction Quiz time again. This fundraiser has been a great success for the Club over the last few years. This year we have selected 21 National and International Sporting events from March til October of this year. The first event is to predict the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and the final prediction to be made is to pick the winner of the Cork Premier Senior Football Championship. For all your predictions you are given four possible ‘winners’ or if you want to pick someone else you can select ‘Other’. Different points are allocated to each selection and whoever accumulates the most points will be the winner. Tickets priced at €10 are now on sale from Club Members. The Closing date for entries is march 9th so do join up straight away. If anyone gets the 21 predictions all correct a grand prize of €3000 is on offer. If there is no 'all-correct' entry it's the best points total. In That case we are giving prizes of €500, €200, €100  and two prizes of €50 ach. If you're not in you can't win.
