Well Done St. Colmans...

Congratulations and well done to St Colmans on a magnificent win in the Dean Ryan Cup last Friday. At Fitzgerald park in Kilmallock Colmans won in a dramatic fashion against Ardscoil Ris of Limerick. It was a wonderful display of hurling in testing conditions after the heavy rain on Friday morning. The Limerick side got a brilliant start and had 1 2 on the scoreboard after a few minutes. St. Colmans were finding the going tough until Dan Roche of Ballyhooley started scoring points from play and from frees. By half time it was level pegging Colmans had 8 points to 1 5 for the Limerick side. Ardscoil started the second half in a storming manner again with two quick points. From that onwards it was tit for that. Conor Hazlewood, Davy Barry and Adam Walsh starred in defence and it was noticeable that the three lads were well over their opponents as the game went on. Cillian Tobin with his midfield partner Gearoid O Brien did a fierce amount of hard work all through. Up front Roche kept hitting great points while Edmond Cashman was always involved and raised a vital white flag. With time nearly up Dan Roche levelled the game with a huge free from near the sideline. In the stand we breathed a collective sigh of relief thinking we'd be all back in Kilmallock for a replay on Friday week, November the 8th but more drama was to come. Ben Nyhan from Clyda Rovers -his great, great grandmother was from Ballyroberts in Bartlemy, got possession and hit over a superb winning point. It was a super win for St Colmans who displayed great character and determination on the day. They now go forward to meet the Connacht champions in the All Ireland semi final on November the 19th. When Colmans won this cup in 2017 they drew level with Thurles CBS on 12 titles each. Since hen Thurles won the 2-18 and 2019 titles so they now have 14 and St Colmans 13.  As well as Conor, Davy, Adam, Cillian and Edmond we also had Adam Hayes, Jacob Powell, Josh Ahern, Ronan O Connell and Denis Cashman on the pane -well done lads.

Blackrock win IHC in Limerick.

It was weekend of double celebration for Siobhain Cashman. After seeing Edmond and Denis win Dean Ryan medals on Friday her native parish of Kilfinnane won the Limerick Intermediate title at the weekend. The Blackrock Club -_Pat Heffernan our former trainer being it's most famous son, will be back Senior in 2020 for the first time since 1998. Well done to all involved. They play Fr O Neills in the Munster IHC on Sunday next in Kilfinnane.

CORK JUNIOR HC FINAL.

It will be a unique Cork JHC final in Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday next -an All East Cork affair. Russell Rovers pipped Carrignavar in the East Cork Final in Lisgoold in September and now the two teams are in the County Final. Carrig are trained by our own Joe Delaney so we wish them all the very best. It's been a tough, emotional year for the Carrig club with deaths of Tommy Sheehan and then last week the death of Cathleen Foley. Cathleen was from a proud Bartlemy and Bride Rovers family, the Hoskins of Bluebell. We extend our deepest sympathy to all Cathleen's relations.
