U14 GIRLS FOOTBALL Bride Rovers  6- 8  Naomh Abán 6-4

On a misty evening last Monday night we travelled to Ballyvourney where we played a very strong Naomh Abhan outfit in the U14 Football County Semi- Final. From the throw in Naomh Abán  were first to attack and immediately put us under a lot  of pressure , scoring 2 goals in quick success and before we knew it we found ourselves 7 points behind.  We began to settle into the game and started playing a very attractive brand of football, which we convert into scores.  As the half time whistle blew Bride Rovers lead by 5 -7 to  2- 3. Even with a 13 point lead we knew we weren’t home and dry playing against a strong talented team like Naomh Abán, and true to form they started the second half like they did the first and put our backs under pressure from the word go, they went on to score 3 goals and a point without an answer bringing it back to a 3 point game.  With our girls never give up attitude we tagged on a goal and a point to run out winners by 4 points in the end.  A fantastic and entertaining game by two talented teams.   Well done to the whole panel who put in a fantastic effort and are justly rewarded with a place in the County Final  against Carrigaline next Sunday 1st. of September, 2019.

It was a great team performance well done girls.  Full time score Fermoy 2-9 Bride Rovers 3-7.  Next match v Eire Og date and time TBD.

U12 Girls Football League champions u12

Bride Rovers u12 girls went in to this league final on back of an unbeaten league campaign but yet allways knowing that St Nicks were going to be a tough opposition and so it proved. The game started at a blistering pace with Nicks opening the scoring with a well worked goal. This was the early warning that Rovers needed as from here they settled in to the game and scored 2.2 with out answer. The 1st half ended with Rovers leading 3.4 to 2.2 The 2nd half was same with the ball moving from end to end with both backs doing well. Rovers tacked on some beautiful scores to move out to a 9 point lead and sustained fierce pressure in the final 5 mins to hold on for a momentous win. Well done to all the girls and thank you to all the parents and supporters that came out to shout on the girls. We would also like to thank Glanmire ladies club for having the field in top condition for the game  Next up is the start of our county campaign against St Mary's on Sat 7th in Rathcormac. Also a massive well done to the Bride Rovers u14 girls who have qualified for their respective county final.

U10 CAMOGIE

The under 10 camogie team had what could be easily described as a "busy" weekend, playing 6 matches between Sunday morning and Monday evening.
We started Sunday morning with a trip to Castlelyons to partake in their blitz where we played two teams from Sarsfields and one from Watergrasshill.   No sooner had the dust settled on the Castlelyons pitch and it was announced that Fermoy had invited us in along with our under 8 camogie team monday evening to play three matches against them. Over the course of the weekend 20 different girls represented Bride Rovers under 10s, 16 playing in Castlelyons and 17 playing in Fermoy, on both days the mentor group attempted to ensure that all the girls got equal game time and that the girls played different positions.
The progression rate from the girls is quite astounding , with plenty of fearless blocking, hooking, striking, soloing and hand passing on show from all the young ladies over the two days, along with the odd sliothar being 'set fire to' if it decided to stop in front of the Bride Rovers goal !,  The girls are now beginning to understand the different positions on the pitch and to believe in themselves and to trust the skills they've been nurturing throughout the season Many thanks to Castlelyons for the invite and their hospitality and also to Fermoy for their invite, most importantly, huge thanks must go to the parents, giving up their morning off to bring the girls to the blitz and then having to rush home from work the next evening to get the girls into Fermoy for the next series of games. The girls ever growing love for camogie and ever improving skill set is in no small part down to all the support, encouragement and belief that all the parents have in the girls, the mentor group truely appreciate all the efforts the parents undoubtedly make, at matches, training and at home, Bride Rovers Abu !
RATHCORMAC 4 MILE ROAD RACE Congratulations on a job well done to Liam Barry and his team for what was undoubtedly a hugely successful Rathcormac 4 Mile Road Race.  Huge thanks to all those involved to the runners, helpers, spectators and sponsors.
