Rovers in Red - 2019-08-28 15:43:00

This is a proud weekend for the Bride Rovers GAA Club as the Roche twins and Shauna Hayes line out in All Ireland finals with Cork.

Brian and Eoin are involved with the Cork under 20 Hurling team that contests the All Ireland Final on Saturday in Limerick.  Cork face Tipperary in the LIT Limerick Gaelic Grounds at 6 o clock on Saturday evening. It should be an epic encounter between these two sides. In effect it's the last part of a Hurling Trilogy spread over three seasons, 2017,'18 and '19. At Minor level in 201t when Minor was under 18 the sides drew ina  thrilling game in Semple Stadium. The replay in Pairc Ui Rinn of a Monday night was classic with Cork winning and both Brian and Eoin starred in these games. Unfortunately Cork lost the 2018 minor All Ireland Final to Galway. Last year then the sides met at under 20 level twice again. Cork got the better of Tipp in the Munster Final in Pairc Ui Chaoimh for an easy win. Then on the evening the Pope was in Dublin the sides met once more in the All Ireland Final in Limerick. Cork were caught by a late, late sucker punch in the form of a last minute Tipp goal. History repeated itself in this year's Munster Final with Jake  Morris getting a last gasp winner. In reality there's been very little between the sides over the three years. Tipp will be on a high after their Senior win last Sunday so 'twill be tough going for Cork. We wish the Roche brothers and Denis Ring and all involved the very best on Saturday evening.
