Senior Ladies Football..

Our senior ladies football team had a good win against Aghada last Tuesday night in Aghada, in the second of their 3 round robin county championship matches. Having lost out to Kinsale in the first game, it was vital to win this game to keep our championship aspiration alive. The scoreline of 8-15 to 1-04 does justice to a very good team performance and if we can maintain the intensity, teamwork and support play shown throughout the entire 60 minutes, we will be a match for most teams in this year`s competition.We started strongly but found scores hard to come by. Two good saves from Sarah early on were important and when we found our rhythm up front, we never looked in any difficulty throughout the entire game. It is pleasing to see that we kept up our standards even when the game was well won early on and continued to pressurise Aghada, as they have done to us in the past. Two goals in the first half from our centre back Jen Barry made the game comfortable early on. In the second half we continued to apply pressure and to take some great scores, in particular from Grace Kearney and Katie Quirke. Leah Hallihan also had a good outing and got some great scores too. In fact, every player performed very well on the night. Our next game is on August 26^th against Fermoy. Please come out and support the senior team.

CORK U16 CAMOGIE

Best of luck to Cork U16 in their All Ireland Final on Sunday 25th of August, 2019 v Galway in Mc Donagh Park, Nenagh at 4.00 pm. Best of luck to Shauna Hayes.

U14 GIRLS FOOTBALL

Bride Rovers 3 -11  Valley Rovers 3 -4

After a long summer break from U14 football, where the U13 & U15 Summer Leagues took centre stage, we were now back in action in the first round of the U14 County Championship last Friday.  In a windswept Brinny pitch Valley Rovers were our adversaries on the night which turned out to be a very tough match with both teams showing great skill and commitment.  While playing against the wind in the first half we surprisingly found ourselves 8 points to 1-2 up at half time.   Now with the aid of a strong breeze in the second half we thought that we would kick on from here but due to a very spirited Valley Rovers team they  were not giving up and continued to pile on the pressure and scores.  While not to be outdone our own girls again lifted their game and put in a superb last 15 minutes to win on  a score line of 3-11 to 3-4.  Fantastic effort by the whole panel on the night, we now look forward to a County Semi-Final against Naomh Abán next Monday night in Ballyvourney. U12 GIRLS FOOTBALL

Briderovers u12 girls are back in action this coming Sunday the 25th in the league final against St Nicks. The game is being played in Glanmire at 11.30 and promises to be a great game so come along and support the girls.

U8 CAMOGIE & FOOTBALLU8 camogie & football..To round off the summer we participated in 2 blitzes last week. First up we hosted Castleyons and Lismore in a camogie blitz in Rathcormac. Castleyons had 2 teams, Lismore 1 and we had 3 teams of 9 togged. This was a great nights camogie with some serious skills on show....and thankfully no injuries!! Many thanks to both clubs for travelling.

On Saturday we travelled with 25 players to Aghada for a Munster 9 a side blitz. This was a fantastically run blitz with 40 teams participating from various counties. Our U10 squad also had 2 teams togged which meant that we were the club with the highest attendance which was a serious achievement. Our girls played 3 games each...Team 1 played Glanmire, Nemo Rangers and Ibane Gaels. Team 2 played Cloyne, Grenagh and Erins Own. This was a non competitive blitz with the emphasis on fun. No scores were taken which meant that the result didn't matter...just go out to enjoy which our girls certainly. Congrats to all 25 girls who put in some storming performances....we'll have some fun picking 1 team in the years to come!  

Camogie training continues on Monday nights at 6:30 to 7:15. Football on Thursday nights at 6:30 to 7:15. 

NO FOOTBALL TRAINING THIS THURSDAY.  This is to encourage our parents to attend the Bride Rovers Ladies Club 4 mile run.

U10 CAMOGIE

Our u10s girls have played two great games recently against Lismore on the Monday 12th Aug and again this Monday evening against our good neighbours St.Catherines. Thanks to both teams who travelled to Rathcormac on each night.

Over the last few weeks the girls have improved showing all their skills of handpassing, blocking, tackling and scoring some great goals.

On Monday last we played a very strong St.Catherines side but our girls showed great strength and determination on the night. The girls are enjoying each game and have great support on the line given by their coaches Nevin, Joe and Joyce.  Its great to see parents and family cheering them all too so thanks to all who help out.  The u10 girls train every Monday night at 6.30pm so new player always welcome.

The panel Monday night against St.Catherines was Eadaoin, Monica, Sophie, Isabelle, Gabrielle, Caoimhe, Brid, Alex, Julianne, Lea, Jasmine, Kate, Jessica.

MINOR LADIES FOOTBALL

Three out of three for minor footballers  Bride Rovers 3.11 Fermoy 0.09

After victories over Midleton and Rockban, Bride Rovers minor ladies footballers travelled to Fermoy to take on the home side in round three of the East Cork league. The Rovers girls came away with the points on offer after an excellent hour's football to stay unbeaten in this competition. Bride Rovers were quickly out of the traps with Leah Hallihan scoring the first point inside 30 seconds until Alice Murray getting a similar score in the dying moments the Rovers held the advantage all through the game. First half goals from Rachael O Flynn Fiona Barry and the previously mentioned Hallihan helped Bride Rovers to a 3.05 to 0.04 interval lead. The Rovers defence were brilliant all through and were not found wanting in a high intense running game, further points from Katie Quirke Caoimhe Hazelwood Leah Halllihan and Sophie Dorgan helped them to run out comfortable winners. RATHCORMAC 4 MILE ROAD RACE

Rathcormac 4 Mile Road Race Kindly sponsored by Jump Juice Bars will take place on Thursday 22nd August in Rathcormac. This race is being hosted by Bridevale Athletic Club & Bride Rovers Ladies Football & Camogie Club.The entry fee is €10 and the race start time is 7.30pm The Race HQ will be Rathcormac Community Hall. Runners are encouraged to pre-register, this will speed up the process on the night. No payment up front, pre-register now and collect your running number on the race night and pay then. You can pre-register the following ways:

U10 GIRLS FOOTBALL

THE INVINCIBLES On Tuesday 13^th August, Bride Rovers took on Watergrasshill at home for their final league game of the season knowing that a win would secure top spot.The weather stayed away and the family and friends gathered around to watch the girls put on a performance to make them proud of. Pressure was put onto the opponents right from the throw-in and the ball did not leave the Watergrasshill half very often.  Soon the points started appearing on the score sheet followed by a some skillful passing which lead to a couple of goals.  The girls played with a smile on their faces and it showed by coming off at half time 2-3 to 0-1 up. True to the Rovers policy, all the girls that show up play a role in the game at some point and many players switched up at half time. It was a bit tighter after this with the ball going from one end to the other but it was the Hill that started putting the pressure back on, which lead to a couple of goals.  Points were then converted by both teams but Bride Rovers stood strong and showed they were in control like they had been doing all season. The final score was 2-5 to 2-3 which seemed like a close game but it had no reflection on the amount of ball the girls had and attempts to kick it over the bar. We are very proud of the girls this season, even the new comers have picked it up quickly. Now we look forward to a semi finals and final to hopefully bring home silverware.
