Wins For Juniors and Seniors...

After a relatively quiet period due to Exams it's now all systems go on all fronts. At a Fixtures Meeting on last Monday night we estimated that we could have twenty five games in the next two weeks covering all grades.  We have Junior Football Championship as well as Under 21 Hurling and football and Minor Hurling and Football. The Senior Hurling Championship and Junior B Hurling 'Round Robin' series are all now on the horizon as well as several league games. Last weekend we had home games in Junior C Hurling and Senior Hurling Leagues.

East Cork JHL Div 3 v Midleton.
On Thursday night June 20th we were at home in Pynes Field to Midleton.
We had a great win for the third team with some lovely passages of play. On the night there were super scores and some mighty performances from the younger lads- we had ten under 21 players playing. Our total was 3-18 which is fantastic scoring at any grade, Midleton replying with 11 points. It is mighty to see such good numbers togging out for a third XV. So it's onwards and upwards! Our next fixture in the Div 3 JHL league is on tonight Thursday 27th June away to Russell Rovers at 7.45.Team: Dave Burke (0-1 free), Tom Murray, Jordan Mannix, John O'Sullivan, Jack Connor, James Murphy, Matthew Quinn, Jake Tobin, Jack Kearney, Stephen Pratt (0-3 ) 0-1 from free, Cian Hogan (0-5), Colm Power (0-2), Craig O'Callaghan (0 1 ) free, Shane O'Flynn (3-3), Seamus Ahern (0-1)
Subs: Damien Healy (0-1)Ian O'Donoghue (0-1)Brian Lahive Brian Collins Donal Pyne

County Hurling League; Division 1.

We were fixed for two home games in the County League as we chase a top 4 place. On Thursday we were down to play Newtownshandrum and then Ballyhea on Sunday. Unfortunately Newtown conceded the game and while we got the League Points it was pity not to have had the game. Despite the virtual deluge of rain on Sunday the Ballyhea game went ahead at 2 o clock. With the two teams meeting in the Championship in August this was an interesting tie. The pitch was in magnificent condition despite the rain. We got on top early on in the contest and led by 2 12 to 0 5 at half time having played with a strong point. Ballyhea scored five points on the trot after the break to come right into the match. Scoring was low in the second half as we added jut 3 points to win by 2 15 to 0 11. With both teams missing players we cant read anything into this result come Championship time. Team Panel. F. Hogan, T. O Sullivan, M. Liddane, L. Forde, B. Murphy, C.Ryan, F. Collins, S. O Connor, S. Boyce, J.Pratt, M. Collins, D. Buckley, C. Barry, B. Roche, B. Johnson, E. Roche, S. Knox, S. Pratt, P.O Flynn, K. Kearney. We are due to play Newcestown in our last League game on Sunday next but the time has not been finalised. It is a home fixture for us. As it stands we are on 41 points but depending on other results we could make the top four or not.

Under15 Premier 1 Hurling

We played Blackrock at home last Wednesday evening in the Premier 1 hurling League. This was our first time playing Blackrock at this level and didn't know a whole lot about them.  We won the game well on a scoreline of 5-16 to 1-10. As the league doubles up as championship this year every game is important as only the top four qualify for the semi final stages.  Next up is  Glen Rovers away  on Wednesday 26th at 7.30 and we have Na Piarsaigh away on the Friday  the 5th of July. As of now we sit on top of the table with three wins so our next two games are very important if we are to progress to championship

 Under 6's Off The Mark.

The Under 6 boys travelled to Glenville for their first blitz of the year. For most of the kids, it was their first ever game. Excitement was huge with reports of some children having their Bride Rovers kit on at 6am in the morning! A total of 32 children travelled and we had 4 teams of 8 with each team playing 2 hurling and 2 football matches. Some of the skills on display were amazing for children so young and the future of Bride Rovers is strong with this generation particularly when over half of those playing on Sat are u6 again next year! Huge thanks to Paud O’Neill and the Glenville club for being wonderful hosts. We will be organising a return blitz near the end of July.

Under 11 Hurling- off to Celbridge on Saturday.

The U11's  played Bishopstown in hurling (away) last Friday – in a hard fought contest Bishopstown pipped the Rovers U11s who worked tirelessly until the end. Training this week is Monday and Thursday.  The u11s travel to Celbridge for the annual Celbridge GAA tournament next Saturday – Rovers are grouped with Ballyboden St Endas (Dublin), Cloneen (Kilkenny) and Sallins (Kildare). It will be an early start leaving the parish on Saturday morning as the tournament commences with a parade at 10.10am and finishes with a presentation to all players involved at 3pm. Ciarain O Donovan from Ballinakilla, Bartlemy is one of the main organisers of this prestigious Tournament. Enjoy the day lads.

REBEL OG Premier 2 Minor Hurling League
Blackrock 2-10 Bride Rovers 1-07.
On Sunday last we travelled to Church Rd to take on De Rockies
On what was a horrendous morning with driving wind and rain Referee Mark Maher gave the go ahead for the game. Despite the splendid surface conditions were hard for both sets of young players. Scores were hard to come by. As both teams defences were well on top and forwards found it hard to get space. At half time we were down a point. The rain continued to pour down for the second half and our lads tired as it was the first time out for six lads who had just finished exams
Overall our were happy with the performance as they kept going till the end losing out by six points. It's just brilliant to be competing at this level playing against top class teams. Fair play to both teams for a good game in these conditions

JUNIOR FOOTBALL .

We play Ballinacurra next Tuesday night August 2nd in the East Cork JBFC. This is being played on a Round Robin basis this year. We've beaten R O Neills so this next game is to decide who'll win the Group and who'll finish as runners up. No venue for the game has been finalised at the time of writing.

CLUB LOTTO.

The Jackpot on Tuesday June 18th was €20,000 and the four numbers drawn were 4/9/15 and 32. There was no winner. The winners of €30 each were Lynda Dorgan, Mary Leigh, Marguerite Santry, Gina O Leary and Miriam Murphy. The Jackpot for last Tuesday night June 25th was €20,000. Tickets for the Weekly Lotto cost just €2 each and can be purchased from Club members and in local business outlets. Tickets can also be purchased online at locallotto.ie
