Elden Crotty RIP...
It was with a great feeling of sadness last week that we learned of the death of Elden Crotty. Elden had worked as a Groundsman with the Bride Rovers GAA Club in recent years in Pairc na Bride, Scannell's Field and Pyne's Field and took great pride in his work with the Club. Despite facing a very serious illness last Autumn he returned to his job over the winter months and worked away diligently. His death at such a young age is a huge tragedy for his family and friends. On behalf of the Bride Rovers Club we extend our deepest sympathy to the extended Crotty family.
Under 10 Hurling Tournament.
Our Under 10 hurlers ventured across the county boundaries to Ballyduff in the County Waterford for their annual U10 tournament. Firstly many thanks to the parents of all our boys who understood that not everyone could go as numbers were restricted....however with more tournaments in the coming months everyone will be able to participate. Our first game was against famed Holycross from Tipperary. After matching them for the first half we faded in the second half and ran out losing on a scoreline of 5-1 to 2-2. Our next game was an hour later against St. Marys of Clonmel. We emerged victorious in this on a scoreline of 3-1 to 0-1. Our work-rate and skill levels had risen dramatically from the first game as the boys found their stride. The final game was against Ballygunner's "B" team who we defeated easily on a scoreline of 7-7 to 0 9. . This was definitely our most rounded performance of the morning. All 17 boys played their part in a memorable morning.This tournament is run over a number of weeks. Our results last Saturday mean we've qualified for the next phase which is scheduled for next Saturday morning June 1st at 10am. Many thanks for a wonderfully run blitz by the Ballyduff club.

Feile.
Féile na nGael, the National Under 14 Hurling Festival, was first held in 1971 and was hosted by Tipperary. Since then it has been held annually in early June in different counties. Féile na nGael in 2018 was hosted by Galway. Participation in Féile na nGael is by invitation. In general all clubs in the host county are invited to participate while all other counties host local versions of the event and the winners are then nominated to represent their county at the National event. Sometimes the runners-up in certain counties may be invited also and the organising committee is free to decide how many clubs from a particular county are invited each year. The Division 1 Féile na nGael winners receive the Christy Ring cup commemorating the famous Cork hurler. It depicts the Cloyne Round Tower. The excitement is now mounting as Cork and Kerry Clubs prepare to host visiting teams from all over the Country. The John West sponsored festival will commence on Friday June 7th and finish on Sunday June 9th. Our guests will be Loughiel Shamrocks from Antrim. We will meet them for the first time in mallow GAA Grounds at 5 o clock on the Friday evening. At 5.30 in Mallow we play Offaly champions Kilcormac/Killoughey and an hour later we meet mallow. The Antrim party will then travel back to Pairc na Bride arriving at approximately 8pm. Our visitors will then meet there host families and head home with them. WE will play the Antrim team at 10 o clock on the Saturday morning and the game will be followed by the Crossbar Challenge. Depending on the Friday evening and Saturday results ourselves and the Shamrocks will go forward in either the Plate or Shield Competitions in Togher at 2 and 3 o clock. After that it's back here to the parish to freshen up. On Saturday evening both teams will have a meal together in the Rathcormac Inn. After that they will watch the Cork v Waterford Munster SHC game on TV. This will be followed by a Fun Table Quiz. After 9.30 Mass in Bartlemy on Sunday morning and depending on Saturday's results the teams will head for Bishopstown GAA Club. It promises to be a great, hectic weekend of hurling.
Under 12 Hurling.
Our game against Grenagh last Friday night was postponed. On tonight Thursday May 30th we have a home game against St Catherines in hurling at 7.30pm in Pynes. Under 12 hurling training every Tuesday night.
2019 CUL CAMP.
The annual Bride Rovers Cul Camp for 2019 will run from Monday July 29th until August 2nd. The Boys camp will be at 10.am each day.
Registration will close 10th June. This is for boys between 7 and 13 years of age only. Under 6 boys can be registered through the Bride Rovers under 6 team Coaches.. There may be restrictions on the numbers we can cater for so please contact the Coaches.
WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO.
The Lotto Jackpot for Tuesday May the 21st was €20,000 and the four numbers drawn were 5,14, 29 and 32- there was no Jackpot winner.
The prizes of €30 each went to Bernie O'Flynn, Ruby Hicks, Lisa Kenny, Catherine Murphy, Marian Collins.
The Jackpot for last Tuesday May the 28th was €20,000. Tickets for the Weekly Lotto cost just €2 each and can be purchased from Club members and in local business outlets. Tickets can also be purchased online at locallotto.ie
We are very grateful to each and everyone who regularly supports the Weekly Lotto as the funds raised are vital for the day to day running of the Club. An Annual Lotto Ticket can also be purchased for €90.
Under 14 Hurling.
Our Under 14 hurlers are busily preparing for the Feile and the visit of Loughiel Shamrocks from near the Green Glens of Antrim. On this Friday night may31st we play valley Rovers in their home pitch at Brinny at 7.30pm
UNDER 14 Football.
Bride Rovers U14s had their last football league game last Monday May 20th in Pairc na Bride against St Dominics. It was an even enough game at half time it was 1-2 to 7 points we just didn't have that bit of luck on the day that we needed and the score didn't reflect the game it finished up Bride Rovers 1-7 and St Dominics 2-10. It was a very sporting game and we wish St Dominics the best going forward. We are now regrouping and looking forward to the championship pencilled in for the 17th of July.
A couple of days later we played a Hurling league game against Mallow in Mallow. At half time the score was 1-4 to 9 points it was a very even but tough game. Everyone got their chance on the field of play it was tight up to the end but Mallow pulled away in the last few minutes with mighty points from all angles Final score Bride Rovers 2-7 to 20 points for Mallow. We wish Mallow the best of luck going forward and will meet them again in Feile.

RUN AROUND THE PITCH..
Kevin Donovan is running 1 mile in every GAA Club Grounds in County Cork. He is doing this marathon as a fundraiser for the Cork Deaf Association and Parkinson's Ireland. Kevin came to Pairc na Bride on Thursday evening last to do the Rathcormac Mile. Club Runai Maurice Dooley presented Kevin with a cheque on behalf of the Bride Rovers Club.
Congrats William
Well done to our former Runai William O Leary on his election to Cork County Council. It's a great honour for William and his family.
EXAMS. The Junior and leaving Cert Exams are just around the corner so we wish all those sitting for these Tests all the very best and happy Studying over the next week or so.
