Senior Ladies comprehensive victory over Fermoy

Our senior ladies reversed a run of defeats by Fermoy with a comprehensive victory last Sunday night on a score line of 3-14 to 0-14. From the throw in our ladiestore into Fermoy and dominated in most areas of the field. On a perfect night for football, we made life difficult for Fermoy. Early scores, including 2 goals from Grace Kearney and Grace Culloty settles us into the game. In fact the 2 Graces were at the center of all that was good in the game. Our kickout strategy worked very well in the first half and we won most of our kicks. Jen Barry was prominent at center back and worked tirelessly in both defense and attack. A number of good saves from Sarah in goal and hard work from our defenders kept Fermoy from scoring any goals. Every player who started played very well and our subs fitted in seamlessly when introduced in the second half.

After half time we lost our composure and allowed Fermoy back into the game but we gained control in the last quarter and ran out comfortable winners in the end. Accurate shooting from Katie Quirke, who finished the game with 8 points, helped us to keep our noses in front throughout the game. It was pleasing to see the training ground routines being put into practice and good also to see how our fitness allowed up to finish strongly. Grace Culloty has a great game, well up to the standards she has set for herself in the past. Our next game is next Sunday in Rathcormac against St Val’s. Come along and support the team. Our scorers on the night were Katie Quirke 0-08, Grace Culloty 2-03, Grace Kearney 1-01, Niamh Barry 0-01 and Chaoimh Hazelwood 0-01.
