Under 21's Reach County Semi Final.
After a great Divisional campaign which resulted in winning the East Cork title the U21 footballers travelled the short distance to a sun-drenched Pairc Mac Gearailt, Fermoy on Saturday evening last as the Imokilly representatives to play near neighbours and Avondhu winners Ballycastle Gaels (Ballyhooly and Castletownroche combined) in the first round of the County Championship.
This was a highly entertaining game from start to finish with both teams giving their all for the full sixty minutes. Ballycastle started the game in rip-roaring fashion creating chance after chance in the opening five minutes and going into a three point lead. However this only spurred the Rovers into action with the next three points coming from the boot of Conor Barry. These scores were followed by a superbly taken point from close to the corner flag by Griffin O’Sullivan. Further scores followed for the Rovers in the first half with points from Conor, Brian and Cian and a superbly taken goal on 25 minutes from Jordan Mannix. Ballycastle then had a goal of their own just before the short whistle to leave the half time score at 1-08 for the Rovers to 1-05 for Ballycastle.
The Second half started with the Rovers kicking the opening four points to extend the lead to 7 however Ballycastle were not done and rallied superbly to bring the game back to level scores at 1-13 to 2-10 with less than five minutes remaining. It was here that the Rovers had to dig deep and their never say die attitude came to the fore as they battled to the finish and kicked two late points to win on a score line of 1-15 to 2-10. We were down a few players from the East Cork campaign but in fairness the team on duty played superbly on the night. We expect that the County semi final will not be fixed until late June at the earliest.

Junior Football
The Junior footballers had two East Cork Junior Football league outings during the past week against Carrigtwohill and Glenville.
The opening Division 2 league fixture for the Rovers was away to Carrigtwohill and was played on a wet and windy Tuesday evening last. The Rovers were understrength due to college exams and full credit to those who turned out for what was a tough hours football against a well drilled Carrigtwohill side who were preparing for their opening Junior A Football Championship the following weekend. The Rovers played some fine football over the hour, however scores were hard to come by and the end result was a defeat on a score line of 1-13 to 1-02.
The following Thursday night saw the Rovers playing their second league game of the campaign at home to Glenville. These local derby games are always tough affairs and so it proved with the Rovers coming out on top with a score line of 14 points to 12.
This has been a busy week for the footballers in Bride Rovers and at the time of writing the Junior Footballers are fixed to play the First Round of the East Cork
Junior B Championship against Fr. O’Neills on Tuesday 14th at 7.30pm in Lisgoold. We are also down to play Castlelyons in another JFL game on next Saturday night May 18th at home at 7.30pm.

UNDER 10 HURLING
The U10 boys played a hurling game against St. Colmans in Shanagarry on Saturday last. This was perhaps one of our toughest games to date with St. Colmans having a big bunch of lads. However our lads acquitted themselves well with two great team performances. Football training on Wednesday night at 6:30 in Pynes. Football game next Saturday morning May 18th in Ballincollig. Hurling Tournament in Ballyduff the following Saturday May25th.
UNDER 12's BUSY.
U12 football match v St Michaels , Friday 10th May 2019 at Pairc na Bride, Rathcormac. The game started very well for our lads scoring point after point against a slight breeze. Our lads played great football building up a nice lead with St Michaels only response was a goal. Then just before half time St Michaels again came at us with two more goals to cut our hard fought lead to just four point on a score line of Bride Rovers 1.10 to St Michaels 3.0 .The half time break came at a good time as St Michaels were the stronger side leading into half time . Our lads regrouped and focused and went out with a steely determination not to lose this one. With a few more points, the goals started to come with two goals coming in quick succession. St Michaels fought back but our lads were too strong winning on a score line of 4.15 to 5.1. The U12s played Fermoy in hurling on Monday 13th In Pynes 7:30pm We were missing 3 key players but our lads with help of brave U11s
Put up a great fight. It was a tough game Fermoy played well with good support play and were always first to the second phase. We started nicely but then left in some unfortunate goals which gave us a mountain to climb in second half. At half time it was Fermoy 4-4 to bride Rovers 0-5. A better second half performance by Rovers made Fermoy provide us with some great free taking practice from which we duly obliged. We pegged back a goal but lost on a score of 4-12 to 1-8. We improved and harried them and were better in the second phase which limited their scoring opportunities but we just couldn't get lucky near the goal and a number of occasions which would have made it a tighter game. Fermoy deserved the win but our boys learnt loads and getting experience and plenty practise is as important as winning.
UNDER 14 FOOTBALL.
Bride Rovers played two football games in the last week first one being against Liscarroll/Churchtown last Thursday evening in Pynes pitch. Bride Rovers won after a very enjoyable game both teams played well and there was a great atmosphere. On Sunday morning before the Cork Tipp game Bride Rovers played away to Killavullen. Although we didn't have our full main squad of players on the day we still put up a strong performance losing by two points in the finish 1-9 to 1-7. Our next football game is home to St Dominic's on Monday 20th May.
UNDER !5 Football.
We played Ibane Gaels at home last Wednesday in the p2a football league. We started off really well moving the ball through the lines to our forwards and going in at half-time leading by 7 points. The Gaels started the second half playing very well hitting the net twice and adding a few points. We made a few positional switches which helped the Rovers over the line winning on a scoreline of 5-7 to 4-7
We have a break now for a few weeks as some of our lads have Junior Cert exams and we wish them the very best in their educational endeavours. Our next fixture is down for June 19th when we are at home to Blackrock in the Premier 1 Hurling League.
UNDER 7's
Well done to our U7s who competed in their first Monster Blitz at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday. Two games against our neighbouring parish Glenville and one against Eire Óg saw 25 of our lads get a full hour of game time underneath the south stand in the glorious sunshine.
Training: Wednesdays football from 630 to 715pm
Saturdays hurling 10 to 11am

CAMERON TO LINE OUT WITH CORK.
Next Sunday Cork face Limerick in both the Munster Senior and Minor Hurling Championship ties at the Gaelic Grounds on the Ennis Road in Limerick. Also on the programme is the Primary Game between Cork and Limerick National Schools. It's a marvellous occasion for the young players who get the chance to don the Red and White of Cork at such a young age. We have been lucky in recent years with several of our Club players from both our Schools selected. Next Sunday Cameron Swalbe O Sullivan from Hollyhill, Bartlemy is on the Cork panel. Cameron is a pupil of Bishop O Brien NS Bartlemy and is a very promising young hurler. His father Donal played under-age and Minor with the Club and his grandfather Noel O Sullivan was involved with the Club in the 1960's. It's a great honour for Cameron, his family, his School and Parish and we hope he has a very enjoyable day.
Cork v Tipperary. After a classic first half the Tipperary men in typical 'Matt The Thrasher' style blew Cork away in the second half. Cork played very nice hurling but we need more drive and a bit of Willie Walsh/ Tim Crowley type 'divil' in our forward play. The result means Cork must get a win in Limerick next Sunday. Theoretically Cork could make the 'Top Three' in Munster with wins over Waterford and Clare but that's sailing very close to the wind indeed. A win against the All Ireland Champions would be a great fillip to Cork hurling. It's a big ask but Cork are capable of doing it.

Plans for the Feile weekend in early June are well underway. We will be hosting the team and Mentors from Loughiel Shamrocks in Antrim. Also in our group are mallow and the Offaly Divison 1 winners. We will feature the Loughiel Shamrocks Club in next week's notes.
