U21 LADIES FOOTBALL FINAL

U21 County Championship final is scheduled for Sunday the 28th of April, 2019.

U16 GIRLS FOOTBALL

Our U16’s played Cloyne at home on Friday night.  We started very well with the backs well in control and Sarah Morrison winning every ball in midfield and our forwards were putting over some fine scores. However a slight lap in concentration allowed Cloyne to score two goals just before half time and we were 3 points down. The second half was end to end with both forwards scoring freely. Into the last two minutes of the game and we were one point down and Megan was through on goals and fouled twice with no free resulting in her efforts. This was a very disappointing decision that would have allowed us to draw the game which would have been the fairest result. Final score Cloyne 2-10 Bride Rovers 2-9. Team Cliona, Alice, Naoise, Ava B, Niamh, Caoimhe K, Alanna, Shauna 0-5, Sarah M, Abbey, Ava H 0.1 , Caoimhe B, Kate, Ciara 1-0, Megan 1-1, Sarah Birmingham, Sarah Buckley. A special thanks to the U14’s Ava, and the two Sarah B’s for helping us out on a day we were missing a few.

On Sunday we met RockBan in Rathcormac in terrible conditions. Points were exchanged between both teams in a very close game. The girls were working very hard right throughout and did very well to hold possession with a wet ball. Half Time Bride Rovers 1-4, Rockban 0.4.

With a wind at our back and a few positional changes we began very well and got 1-1 straight after half time. Then Rockban hit a purple patch and were camped in our back line for about 15 minutes, however with a never say die attitude our backs remained resolute and only conceded 1-2.  Winning two of our next kick outs resulted in two goals of a similar nature, with the ball being worked right up to the full forward line resulting in two fabulous goals. From here we won most of the following kick outs and managed to put some distance on the score board.

Team Cliona, Alice, Alanna, Naoise, Niamh, Ava H, Caoimhe K, Shauna 1-3, Sarah M, Abbey 0-1 , Leah H 2-4 Caoimhe B 2-1, Ciara 0-1, Megan 0-1, Molly. This was a great result, well done girls. Our final game is against Mayfield next Saturday (away) @ 4 pm.

U10 GIRLS FOOTBALL

The girls kicked off their season this weekend with a friendly against local rivals Fermoy and even though it was a friendly both teams were giving 100%.

Due to the large number of players from both teams and the chilling bitter wind, it was decided to run 2 matches side by side and boy did Bride Rovers deliver.

From the early stages in both matches, Bride Rovers had the upper hand and kicked the ball over the bar at numerous stages to settle the nerves.  From there Bride Rovers took control of both games and even though Fermoy converted a few points themselves it wasn't enough to sink a hungry determined Bride Rovers team who came away with comfortable wins.

We would like to thank all the parents who stood out in the cold and gave their support for both teams, it was really appreciated. The first league game is scheduled for the 22nd April away to Agahda and we hope to continue with the same spirit along there.
