Cork minors beat Kerry in Fitzgerald`s Stadium...

The Cork minor panel, with our own Katie Quirke, Sarah Murphy, Aine Keating and Sally Mc Carthy on board made the journey to the hallowed home of Kerry Football that is Fitzgerald`s stadium in Killarney last Saturday to take on Kerry in round 2 of the round robin Munster championship. On the back of a good win last month against Waterford, this was a must win game for Cork. The Cork girls set about their business from the throw in and Kerry were shell shocked by half time with Cork going in with a substantial lead. More of the same followed in the second half and Cork ran out comfortable winners on a score-line of 4-16 to 0-09.

A feature of the game was Cork`s dominance on their own kickout and also on the Kerry kickout. We scored 2-09 directly from winning Kerry kickouts. Katie Quirke finished the game with 2-06, which included a cracking penalty and Sarah Murphy kept a clean slate with two good saves and winning all but one of her kickouts. It was great to see Aine Keating make her come back from a serious shoulder injury in the second half. Sally Mc Carthy, who was half back against Waterford, suffered an unfortunate injury in a club game recently and missed this game. It is quite possible that a some stage before this journey ends that we could see 4 Bride Rovers players on the Cork minor team. That would be some achievement!! They play Tipperary this coming Sunday at 2pm in Eire Og in Ovens. Come along and support the four girls.

U21 Ladies Footballers Qualify For County Final

Our U21 ladies football team qualified for the county final by beating Naomh Aban at home in Rathcormac last Monday evening. On a great night for football, we started brightly and attacked from the start. Scores, however, were hard to come by and we struggled for a bit before gaining the upper hand and going in with a good lead at half time having played against the wind.

The second half started well but Naomh Aban were dogged and at one stage brought it back to a 2 point lead. We woke up in the last 10 minutes and a couple of good scores eventually saw us run out comfortable winners but we have a few things to work on for the final. At the time of writing this, the final is against Douglas and is provisionally fixed for April 28th. Put that in your diary and come along to support the team. Well done again girls!

U14 GIRLS FOOTBALL

We played our old rivals Fermoy in our fourth league match last Sunday in Fermoy.  The girls dominated the game from the start scoring 2 - 8  to Fermoy 0 -0  at half time.  The second half was the same story  with  every player including the subs putting in a fantastic performance, the final score was Bride Rovers 4 -16 Fermoy 2-2.  Well done girls.  Our next match is at home to Inch on Monday 15th of April, 2019 at 7pm.

Best of luck to Abbie, Lily, Ciara and Ava who are taking part with Cork U14 Team in the Munster A Final against Kerry in Mallow on Saturday 13th.

U12 GIRLS FOOTBALL

Bride rovers u12 girls went up against a strong Glanworth team last Thursday evening. The first half was a tough encounter with the Glanworth girls using their height advantage well and running at our defence which kept them at bay with great determination.

Our forwards worked hard to keep the difference in the scoreline to a minimum throughout the first half

In a game of two half the girls came out after half time and took control of the game from the start and with some fine scores and our defence now well on top we ran out winners in the end.

Thanks to Glanworth for travelling on the night
