Munster Post-primary schools win All-Ireland Interprovincial Blitz
The Munster Post-primary schools team won the All-Irelandinterprovincial blitz which was held last Saturday in Kinnegad in county Westmeath. Sarah Murphy played in goal and Katie Quirke played at full-forward, and both played a big part in the victory, with Katie scoring freely at one end and Sarah keeping them out at the other end. Niamh Barry was also on the management team that also included Cork`s John Cleary and Tipperary`s Ed Burke. The weather on the day was pretty miserable with very low temperatures, wind and rain for most of the day. In the round robin series, Munster won all three games beating Connacht, Ulster and Leinster to qualify for the final against Ulster. Munster started brightly but scores were hard to come by with only 15 minutes per side, it was a ding dong battle with Munster finally coming out on top by a single point. It was a sweet victory for the girls and management, as it reversed last year`s result when Ulster won by a point. Well done to the girls and Niamh. This will hopefully set the tone for club and county for the year ahead Score 1-04 to 1-03
