Minor Hurlers in County Final..
We might be nearing October but the games are still coming at a mighty rate. This past week the Minor Hurlers qualified for the County Premier 2 Hurling Final, the u 14 hurlers lost out to the Barrs in their Co semi-final, the u 11 hurlers won the Jerard Kenny Memorial Blitz, the Junior C played Killeagh and the Under 21 hurlers played a draw in the East Cork Final. Then on Monday night last our under 13 hurlers completed their County League programme with a victory over Mallow.
Bride Rovers 0 .19 Blackrock 1.15.
It was a strange venue to play a team from East Cork and a team from the City but Pairc Liam MacCarthaigh in Ballygarvan was the venue for the County Premier 2 Minor Hurling championship semi-final on last Wednesday night. It turned out to be a tight and tense game with never more than a few points between the sides. Conor Barry's free taking was invaluable as he raised white flags at vital stages. The first half saw neither team dominate as the play was very stop-start. Midway during the second half we had edged in front by 0 16 to 0 14 when the Rockies struck for the only goal of the game to lead by a point. Conor levelled matters as we entered the last ten minutes. Cian Hogan edged us in front but Blackrock hit an equaliser once more. When the city side attacked strongly our defence held firm. As we went into injury time a draw looked likely. We went on the attack but the Rockies corner back came out with the sliotar and the ref deemed he over-carried it. Conor put us a point ahead 0 19 to 1 15. We thought there might be one more attack for the Rockies but our lads held out for a great win. It was mighty team effort, a tough, physical encounter. We are now through to our first ever Premier 2 County Minor Final. Back in 1932 we beat Glen Rovers in the Co. Minor Final but lost heavily to the same team a year later. In modern times we've won two County Minor finals. We defeated Clyda Rovers in the 12 a side Final in Killavullen and last year captured a County as well.

The County Final is fixed for Monday October the 8th
Premier County under 14 Hurling Semi Final.
At the Delaneys Club grounds in Kilbarry on Saturday we met old rivals St Finbarrs in the Co semi final. Last year at u13 level and in this years Feile Final we had two brilliant games with Barrs winning by a point on each occasion. We expected another very close tie on Saturday but on the day it didn't turn out like that. From the start the city side were on top and led by 3 points to no score after five minutes. We came more into the game in the second quarter but our shooting was off target with five wides. With the wind in the second half we got an early goal but the lads could never really get on top despite playing their hearts out right until the end. St Finbarrs won bo 0 15 to 1 5. It was disappointing result but fair play to our lads for they have given us brilliant displays all this season and they'll come again.

JERARD KENNY MEMORIAL UNDER 11 Tournament.
On Saturday last we had the 16th playing of the Jerard \Kenny Memorial Tournament. Jerard was a brilliant underage player with the club and was on the County Winning under 12 team in 2000. Jerard died tragically in 2001. On Saturday we had six teams competing in a Round Robin format Watergrasshill had two teams, Killara Og, Lisgoold, Castlelyons and Bride Rovers. After a fantastic morning's hurling the home side emerged as victors with Watergrasshill in second place. Thanks to Michael and Margaret Kenny and family for their ongoing support for the Tournament. Thanks to our piper, referees and all who helped organise the day and helped out with the catering. It was great occasion and a fitting tribute to the memory of Jerard Kenny.
EAST CORK UNDER 21 HURLING FINAL.
For the second year in a row we travelled to Lisgoold to contest the East Cork under 21 A Grade Hurling Final. Our opponents were Carrigtwohill. It was roller coaster of a game with Carrig scoring goals at vital times. On several occasions we had a three point lead but could never go four ahead. A first half goal from Jesse O Keeffe was a tonic score for us but the free-taking of Conor Barry was vital throughout the game. We held a two point lead in the 60th minute of the contest but we knew there would be a few minutes injury time. Luckily as we went into added time Conor gave us a three point winning margin. Three minutes later Carrig got a free out by the sideline and through a virtual twenty-two man forest of players the sliotar ended up in the net. We thought the final whistle was due but there was more drama to come. In their next attack Carrig were awarded a free. If it went over Carrig were East Cork champions - luckily the sliotar drifted wide and a replay will be needed.

REBEL OG u 13 HURLING.
Bride Rovers U13's played their group hurling league match for 2018 on Monday 17th of September against Mallow in a wet and windy Castletownroche. The elements ensured it was going to be a game of two halves with a strong wind blowing directly down the pitch. Having won the toss our lads elected to play with the wind and jumped into an early lead, and indeed built on that lead throughout the first half. As the lads turned to face the wind for the second half scoring turned to defending as Mallow pressed hard to gain parity, however all the Rovers defended manfully to win the game on a final scoreline of Bride Rovers 4-14, Mallow 3-06.
