U10 Camogie
Last weekend the Bride Rovers U10 camogie team travelled to Castlelyons to participate in what was the girls first camogie blitz, they were placed in a group with Whites Cross, Watergrasshill and Carrigtwohill. All three games were played in the best possible spirit, and indeed, weather. Our first game was against Whites Cross, the girls were by no means overawed by the occasion and quickly settled into what was a great game and a great result, with 5 minutes between games there was little time to reflect before we played Watergrasshill in our second game, the girls turned in another great display with another great result, then onto our final game of the day against Carraigtwohill where the girls hard work and skills again shone through to finish out a great days camogie.
Huge thanks to Castlelyons for inviting us to attend the blitz, to our mentors, to all those who came to support and encourage the girls, and of course to the young ladies themselves who, all having played in a variety of positions during the day, put on a great display of hard work and skills, Squad, Ruby Mohally, Sadhbh McDonagh, Ellie Johnson, Julianne Barry, Ella Collins, Brooke Noctor, Sophie Kearney, Abbey Hicks, Bríd Delaney, Kate Foley, Kayleigh Bermingham, Caoimhe Quinlan, Lily Hicks, Monica Barry, Éadaoin Delaney
We played Bishopstown on Thursday the 30thin Bishopstown under lights. The city side hit the ground running and were 2-2 to no score up after 8 minutes. It took us about 15 minutes to settle but with some very strong work from the backs and midfield we began to get back into the game. We were behind 1-3 to 4-2 at half time. With a real emphasis on work rate and support play at half time, our girls started to become more involved in the game and get a grip with some very fast girls from Bishopstown. Some fine work and scores from the forwards brought the girls within 5 points of Bishopstown with about 10 minutes remaining. However we were never able to close the gap and the final score was Bride Rovers 6-7 to Bishopstown 8-8. Even though we were disappointed with the result it has to be said the girls were exceptional and should be proud on how they closed the gap and played so well.
Well done girls. Team: Cliona, Alanna, ,Alice,Caoimhe K, Nodhlaig Chloe,Caoimhe O S, Rebecca, Caoimhe H, Sarah,Shauna ,Leah, Abby, Ella Sophie ,Carol, Naoise,Niamh,Caoimhe G, Amy, Ava, Caoimhe B.
U10 Girls Football
Last Thursday our u10 girls travelled to Delaneys to play our last fixture of what has been a very successful campaign. The night turned out to be very disappointing as Delaneys were short quite a few of their regulars and we had travelled with 24 players. The girls played there usual fast moving football and in the end we ran out easy winners to bring our league to an end.
