Seniors in Championship Action..

On this Saturday evening, the first day of September, our Senior Hurlers are in County Championship action.  We face old rivals Newtownshandrum in a Last 16 game in CASTLETOWNROCHE. Having lost to Erins Own in the first round way back in April we had a great win over Na Piarsaigh three weeks ago in Midleton to get our championship ambitions back on track once more. Newtown took the more direct route with a 2 14 to 0 15 win over Kanturk in Mallow on April 28th.  We've never defeated Newtownshandrum in Senior Championship since our elevation to the Senior Ranks of Cork Hurling though we had some fantastic tussles with them in Fermoy and Castletownroche. Newtownshandrum won three Cork County Senior titles, two Munster titles and an All Ireland in their glory days. They have what could be called a 'new' team nowadays but they are still a very strong side with several inter County hurlers still on their side. Our lads hurled very well against Na Piarsaigh  and confidence is high in the camp though we are well aware that Newtownshandrum will present a major challenge. We have had a good Senior League Campaign and are placed in fifth position thus ensuring a Quarter Final place.  We are in this championship with a fighting chance as good as the other fifteen teams left in the competition. At this stage of the Championship top class hurling will be needed to progress to the quarter finals and Bride Rovers are capable of producing a really good display. Everyone in the Club and parish are backing the team so go for it lads and the very best of luck. The game is timed for 6.00pm in CASTLETOWNROCHE, a big crowd is expected

REBEL OG Under 11 Hurling

The u11 Rebel  Og leagues have  kicked off again after the summer break and Bride Rovers hosted St Catherine's at home in Pynes in hurling.
St Catherine's had beaten us away by a few points the last time we played so we were expecting a tight game. Bride Rovers started very well and scored some great points , St Catherine's missing some good scoring chances which made the  half time score one sided slightly  1-3 to 0-1. In the second half Bride Rovers increased the lead and St Catherine's accuracy again proved costly.  Our backs  repelled a few goal chances and we won out in the end 2-6 to 0-2  but it was a hard fought game til the final whistle. Thanks to our referee Adam Hynes
Team; Conor Riordan , Sean Dowling, Sean Madden, Adam Cronin, Tomas O Riordan, Cormac Barry, Jack Hynes, Gearoid O Connor, Cillian O Sullivan, Shane Prendergast,  Darragh Delaney, Tomas Hackett. We were due to play St Vincents this Saturday but this game is now off and will be refixed.
