CORK INTERMEDIATE CAMOGIE ALL IRELAND SEMI FINAL.

Cork 0-13 Down 0-09 ,
Cork got off to a very good start going 3 points ahead by the 10th minute but slowly Galway came back and led at half time on a scoreline of 0-4 to 0-3. Early in the second Galway scores 2 points and were looking very strong but the introduction of Clíona Healy turned this game for cork as she scored three classy points from play.
Cork now dictated the game and went into a 4 point lead which they held until the final whistle. It was a very good, exciting game played by two very competitive teams but the more balanced Cork team deserved this victory played on an excellent pitch surface in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.  Team Amy Lee, Leah Weste, Sarah Harrington (C), Niamh Ni Caoimh,
Kate McCarthy, Jennifer Barry, Lauren Callinan, Siobhan Hutchinson, Sarah Buckley, Laura Hayes, Finola Neville, Saoirse McCarthy, Carolyn Sugrue, Maeve McCarthy, Cariona Collins. Subs: Katlyn Hickey for Kate McCarthy, Cliona Healy for Catriona Collins, Moira Barrett for Saoirse McCarthy, Rachel O Callaghan for Maeve McCarthy. Referee Gavin Donegan (Dublin). Cork are into the All Ireland Final on the 9th of September in Croke Park and Down will be tough opponents having defeated Tipperary in the other semi final.

JUNIOR CAMOGIE Bride Rovers 1-15 Ballincollig 1-13
On Monday the 20th of August, Bride Rovers played Ballincollig in a very competitive game of camogie. The sliotar was being moved very quickly by two evenly matched teams. Both teams got some delightful scores. The score at half time was Bride Rovers 0-09 Ballincollig 1-04 ,The second half was equally as good as both teams continued to play some great camogie with the sliotar being moved at great pace leading to some very good passing movements and a number of well taken scores by both teams. In a pulsating finish, the Rovers held on to win by two points over a very good Ballincollig team. Both teams used all players who were present on the night and every player played really well. The rovers were up against a very good team but you must always measure yourself against a stronger team but I think this Rovers group really stood up to the challenge and moved to a level they were comfortable with. Well done to everyone and keep it going. Team R O'Flynn, J Cahill, E Larkin, C Hazelwood, E Collins, C O'Flynn, T O'Sullivan, M Hazelwood, A Keating,  S McCarthy , S O'Sullivan, AO'Connor, J Barry , K O'Connor, G Kearney. Subs:, J McCarthy for R O'Flynn, E Roche for J Cahill , E Barry for C Hazelwood, S Murphy for A Keating, J Cahill for M Hazelwood. Referee John O'Connell (Watergrasshill).

U16 CAMOGIE

Best of luck to Shauna Hayes & Nodhlaig Mc Carty who represent Cork in the U16 All Ireland Camogie Final vs. Galway this coming Sunday in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.

U16 FOOTBALL

The game finished in a draw after a tough battle in very windy conditions, to be replayed at later date.

The girls are now preparing for a County Quarter Final next week against Bishopstown.

U8 FOOTBALL

Our U8 girls played their second match of the week taking on Inch Rovers last Wednesday night in Scannells. As we had 20 players we had 2 teams togged out on the night. Our U7s competed very tigerishly over three 10 minute periods while our U8s probably shaded their game. A great display from all 20 girls who are improving each passing week. Well done to all involved.

U8 CAMOGIE

Our U8 girls along with our U6 & uU0 teams hosted their first ever camogie blitz in the main pitch last Saturday

on. Our U8s had 21 girls togged out so numbers and spirits were very high! We played 7 a side games against our neighbours from St. Catherine’s and Castlelyons. While both of these clubs are well down the road with their camogie infrastructure it was only our girls second ever blitz. While we were “shy” at the start we certainly grew into the competition and certainly held our own. Special thanks to St. Catherine’s and Castlelyons for coming, to our parents and friends who cheered on from the sidelines and to those who contributed to the catering.

Football training continues on Saturday mornings at 9 with camogie on Monday’s at 6:30.

U12 CAMOGIE

We travelled to play Castlelyons on the 12th of August in the U12 Camogie League. We were defeated but were very competitive. Great performance from a young Bride Rovers team made up of U12 and U10 players against a strong Castlelyons outfit. Very proud of all the girls who played very well on the night.
