Senior HC on Sunday Week..

With the defeat of Cork last Sunday in Croke Park it's now full steam ahead with the County Championships. Clubs that has players on the Cork panel were not asked to take to the field next Sunday. We are to play Na Piarsaigh who had Christopher Joyce wearing the Red jersey last Sunday so our game now goes ahead on Sunday August 11th. The match will be in Midleton as part of a double header. Killeagh and the Barrs meet at 2.15 with our game against Na Piarsaigh timed for 4 o clock. On tonight Thursday August 2nd we are away to Carrigtwohill in the SHL at 7.45.

Our East Cork JAHC tie v Killeagh which was fixed for July 11th is now gone off with no definite date pencilled in yet for this game.

Minor Football premier 2A league Bride Rovers 3.11 Bishopstown 3.17. After a long break from Minor Football we played Bishopstown in Rathcormac recently. We were minus a number of players due to injury but put up a good display especially in the second half. The Rovers were first to score with a Fergus Sheehan goal. Both teams added points before Bishopstown raised a green flag and the city team led at half time 1.12 to 1.05. The Rovers upped their game in the second half with goals from Patrick O Flynn and a Conor Barry penalty to cut the margin. The City side remained in control and won by 6 points.

Bride Rovers 4.12 Granard Gaels 0.12. In round 5 of the premier 2A Co football league Bride Rovers travelled to Churchtown to take on the home side and came away with a great win. Goals courtesy of Fergus Sheehen Kieran Kearney and John Buckley in the opening half helped us to lead at half time on the score 3.04 to 0.07. Three unanswered points from Paddy O Flynn early in the second half stretched our lead before Kieran Kearney kicked Rovers goal number four and his second in the 40th minute. We were down to play Cobh in the MFC last night August 1st but his game has been postponed due to the Eoin Roche's involvement with the Cork Under 21 Hurling Panel . Cork, the Munster Champions, face Wexford at 4 o clock next Saturday in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, in the All Ireland Semi Final- best wishes to Cork.

EAST CORK DIV 3 JHL. Bride Rovers 1-08 Carrignavar 2-14.

Bride Rovers third XV played a very good Carraig team in Pynes field on the 26th of July. Carraig started well and went into an early lead of 6 points. The Rovers missed a number of chances but coming up to half time Jessie, Alan and Podge scored 3 points to give us confidence but Carraig added 2 more points to leave the half time score 8 points to 3 points. Early in the second Dylan Browne soloed in from the wing to score a very good goal. The Rovers tried hard to get more scores but Carraig came back and picked off some great points and two well worked goals to finish winners of a good sporting game where the Rovers kept going to the final whistle but Carraig held on for a very good win; Scorers- D. BRILLIANT CUL CAMP.

Last week we had record numbers of youngsters for the annual Cul Camp. With glorious sunshine each day bar Friday it was brilliant week. Thanks to all the Coaches, Juvenile Club Organisers, parents and youngsters for all your cooperation and help throughout the week.

WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO.

The four numbers drawn on Tuesday July the 24th were 6, 12, 22, 25 and there was winner The Prizes of €30 each went to Yvonne Horne, Maisie Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Claire Quinn and Donie Quirke. Tickets for the Lotto are just €2 each and can be bought from Club members, in local business outlets and online at locallotto.ie Your ongoing support of the Lotto is really appreciated. The Income from the weekly Lotto is vital in helping with the day-to-day running of the Club.

WELL DONE CORK INTERMEDIATES.

Congrats to Cork on a great win over Kilkenny in the Intermediate Hurling Championship title last Saturday. Cork travelled to Nowlan park to take on and defeat the home side after a great game. St Catherines Daniel Mangan scored two vital goals to help the Rebels to a super victory. Well done Daniel and club mate Brian Mulcahy too as well as John Cronin and Liam O Shea from Lisgoold and Stephen Condon from Harbour Rovers. Sad to see the decline in this competition -just a few years ago up to twelve Counties competed for this title but last year and this season just Cork and Kilkenny bothered to enter.

Grange in Co Final.

Well done to Grange who came from behind to snatch a draw in the Co Junior B Football Final on Friday evening in Pairc Ui Rinn when they met Ballinacurra in the Decider. Best of luck in the Replay.

COME ON CORK.

There should be a decent crowd in Nowlan Park on Saturday for the Cork v Wexford All Ireland U 21 Hurling semi final between Cork and Wexford. Best wishes to Eoin Roche and all involved with Cork and safe travelling to all.

LIMERICK ON TOP.

Well it was a magnificent weekend of hurling with two top class All Ireland semi finals but that's scant consolation for Munster champions Cork. Beaten after two periods of extra time the Rebels looked well in control leading by six points with just nine minutes left in ordinary time. Limerick finished stronger and now they seek an elusive All Ireland title. They've waited forty five years so hopefully they can win it this year. With two Munster titles won Cork were devastated to lose the semi final for the second year in a row. They played some great hurling in the Munster campaign but couldn't finish off the game last Sunday.
