Cork Camogie u16..

Well done to Shauna Hayes who lined out full back for Cork U16 Camogie last Sunday in Castle Road v Dublin in Round 2 of the All Ireland Championship.  Cork drew against Dublin.  Next match is next Sunday v Clare in Castle Road.

U16 Camogie

We played Watergrasshill in Rathcormac on Monday evening in the U16 camogie league. We started off slowly conceding 3 early goals but with a few switches on the field we got back level and by half time we were 1 goal ahead. In the second half we played really well. Our passing and striking has really improved since the last game and its great to see these girls playing this way finishing up winning on a scoreline of 8-6 to 3-6. Well done girls. Keep training girls and keep practising at home. Team: Ella Quinlan (0-1) Alice Murray, Caoimhe O Sullivan, Caoimhe Gubbins, Chloe Murphy, Lily Murray, Rebecca Walsh (0-1), Abby Keating, Mollie O Connell (1-0), Shauna Hayes (5-3), Kate Larkin, Ciara O Flynn, Abby Hoare, Ruby Broderick, Caoimhe Barry (2-1).

JUNIOR CAMOGIE

Millstreet 3.05  Bride Rovers  5 10
This was a good game of camogie played in a very pleasant setting in Millstreet  on Friday night. It was a much tighter game than the scoreline would suggest and great to get out championship campaign of to a winning start. The game was well Managed by PJ Aherne in the middle of the game with the minimum of involvement from him

On Monday 23rd  we welcomed St Catherine's to Pairc Na Bride for the second round of the junior Camogie championship.  It rained just as the game started and combining with the very hard surface very fast. We gave a very good performance against  a fancied St Catherine's  leading at half time with the score line reading Bride Rovers 3 05 St Catherine's 0 01. We resumed the second half with the same fervour, but the opposition got a goal back shortly after the resumption.  We settled back into a good work rate again. Catherine's suffered the loss of two of their players to red cards which did not help their cause and Bride Rovers ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of
Bride Rovers  5 10 St Catherine's  1 03.
Cathal  McAllister was the man in the middle and performed his duties with his usual calmness.

GAELIC FOR MOTHERS AND OTHERS

The Gaelic for Mothers and Others (G4M&O) got their season off to a great start with a game on Friday 12th of July in Bishopstown against the home side.  A great night of football was experienced with plenty refreshments provided by the hosts afterwards.  Panel V Bishopstown: Mary Ryan, Fiona O’ Callaghan, Kate O’ Connell, Michelle O’ Brien, Stefanie Jones, Nollaig Murphy, Catherine Keating, Catherine Guinan, Evelyn Murphy, Deirdre Buckley.

On Saturday 21st of July the ladies travelled to Mallow to take part in the Munster G4M&O blitz and played four games against Firies (Kerry), Inch Rovers (Cork), Kilea (Tipperary) and St. Brigids (Limerick).  As the ethos of this initiative is non-competitive there was no such thing as wins or losses but just good football being produced throughout.  All players moved positions during the games showing their level of skill and adaptability in both defence and attack.  The sun was shining for the duration and many laughs were had on a most enjoyable day.  Many thanks to our supporters who travelled with us and gave constant encouragement.  Training continues on Tuesday’s at 7.15 in Pynes field.  If anyone is interested in joining this group please contact Irene 0876548928 or any member of the group.  The next big event is the National Blitz which is held in Dublin on October 6th so training and games continue to prepare us for the big stage.

Panel for Munster Blitz: Mary Ryan, Fiona O’ Callaghan, Kate O’ Connell, Blaithin Keating, Sinead O’ Driscoll, Catherine Keating, Catherine Guinan, Evelyn Murphy, Deirdre Buckley, Marie Prior, Martina Somers, Caroline Broderick.
