Cork Intermediate All Ireland Camogie Championship..

All Ireland Intermediate Championship Cork 0-18 Down 0-6. Cork had a very good win against a very physical Down team. Cork started well racing into an early 2 point lead. Down leveled the game on the 10th minute. Cork got  the next 3 points and were playing with great skill and pace but Down responded with a point and then had a well struck penalty brilliantly saved by Sarah Harrington. It was from this clearance that Cork scored another point. Following the puck out, the Down full forward Niamh Mallon went for goal and hit the crossbar. Cork weathered the storm and went in at half time leading on a scoreline of Cork 0-8 to Down 0-4.On the resumption of the second half, Cork took this game by the scruff of the neck and scored points from all angles and ran out very deserving winners on a scoreline of 18 points to 6 points. Well done to all invovled especially our own club member Jennifer Barry and mentor Mossie O'Sullivan.

CORK MINOR 'A' LADIES ALL IRELAND FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Hard luck to the Cork Minor Ladies football team who were narrowly defeated by a strong Galway team in what was a thrilling final played in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on Sunday last. Galway denied Cork their fourth consecuitve All Ireland Minor title and clinched a first win in the Under 18 Grade since beating the same opposition in 2014. Galway led at half time on a scoreline of Galway 3-04 to Cork 0-09. Galway opened the second half strong but it wasn't long until Cork's full forward Katie Quirke brought Cork right back into the match with a superb goal. The game was in the melting pot and a replay was the favoured result as Cork trailed by just two points deep into stoppage time but Galway kept their composure to land scores. Cork replied with a late point but they missed other chances beforehand and time evenutally ran out allowing Galway to take the title on the day on a scoreline of 2-15 to 5-7. Cork battled bravely and will look to key misses as well as the five goals conceded, in what was a repeat of last year's decider between the counties, and the fourth time in five seasons that they'd met in the final. Well done to all involved and to our own club players Katie Quirke, Sarah Murphy and Aine Keating for their super effort on the day.

U15 & U16 CAMOGIE
We played St. Catherines in the Group 3 U15 Summer league.  From the off the girls we were tenacious and determined.  The fact our team being made up of many of the younger players did not reflect on the pitch.  The skill, drive and sheer determination of our players kept St Catherines at bay.  Our backs fought endlessly and our mid field and forwards carried the ball tirelessly, however, our poor luck in converting some of the scoring opportunities reflected in the final score of Bride Rovers 2-04 vs St Catherines 4-08.We are playing U16 Camogie next Monday night at home and U15 again on Wednesday night.Team: Alanna, Alice, Caoimhe G ,Ciara, Mollie ,Kate,  Ava, Cliona, Lily, Naoise. U10 FOOTBALL

On Sunday the 15th of July, our U10 girls travelled to Mallow to play the local girls in a challenge game. The game started pretty evenly for the first 10 minutes until Bride Rovers broke through the Mallow defence for a well worked goal and followed with a point to take us in at half time leading. In the second half, the girls came out of the blocks very fast and played some lovely football against a very capable Mallow team.

We went on to score some lovely goals and ran out winners in the end. All girls played fantastic on the day and it showed with a great team effort.Next up is a home game against Erins Own on the 29th of July and training continues every Thursday evening.

Reminder that the Bride Rovers Ladies Football and Camogie Club 'Cul Camp' commences next week Monday 23rd - Friday 27th July 10am - 1pm. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch, water and is wearing suncream before coming to the camp every morning.

Next Clothes, Bags, Shoes Collection Friday the 3rd of August, 2018 at Rathcormac Community Centre 7.30 pm to 8.00 p.m. (garage to rear). This is a massive fundraiser for the club so bring on your old clothes, shoes, bags. "IF IN DOUBT CHUCK IT OUT".
