Cork Minor Ladies...

Well done to Cork Munster Minor A Ladies Football champions.  They defeated Kerry on Monday the 7th of May, 2018 at Mallow taking the Munster Title for the 9th time in a row.  Well done to our own Katie Quirke, Sarah Murphy, Aine Keating and Sally Mc Carthy.  What a magnificent game.F/T Cork 1-12 Kerry 2-08 THE CORK MINOR A LADIES FOOTBALL TEAM PULLED OFF ONE OF THE MOST REMARKABLE COMEBACKS IN THE MODERN GAME LAST MONDAY AFTERNOON AGAINST KERRY IN MALLOW. IT WAS REMINISCENT OF THE SENIOR LADIES COMEBACK AGAINST DUBLIN A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO IN THE ALL-IRELAND FINAL.

WITH 11 MINUTES REMAINING ON THE CLOCK THE MINOR LADIES, WITH KATIE AND SARAH PLAYING A BIG PART ON THE DAY, FOUND THEMSELVES  7 POINTS BEHIND KERRY. IT WAS ALL KERRY AT THAT STAGE BUT CORK CONTINUED TO PROBE FOR OPENINGS.

IN THE FIRST HALF THE LARGE CROWD FOUND THEMSELVES SCRATCHING THEIR HEADS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THE TEAMS WENT IN LEVEL SUCH WAS CORK`S DOMINANCE IN THE OPENING 30 MINUTES. AT THE START OF THE SECOND HALF CORK HAD 2 BAD MISSES AND KERRY WENT ON TO SCORE 3 POINTS IN A ROW TO GO INTO THE LEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE GAME. MOR E KERRY PRESSURE MADE  IT A 7 POINT LEAD HEADING INTO THE LAST 10 MINUTES. THEN CORK GOT 3 POINTS TO REDUCE IT TO A 4 POINT DEFICIT AND THEIR HARD WORK WAS REWARDED WITH A PENALTY WHICH EMMA CLEARY CONVERTED TO LEAVE THE MINIMUM BETWEEN THE TAEMS. A POINT FROM PLAY FOR CORK DREW THE TEAMS LEVEL WITH THE 30 MINUTES PLAYED. THEN CORK WERE AWARDED ANOTHER PENALTY WHICH EMMA CLEARY PUT OVER THE BAR. CORK WON THE KICKOUT AND CONTROLLED THE BALL UNTIL THE FINAL WHISTLE. CUE SCENES OF MASS HISTERIA!!

THIS BUNCH OF GIRLS NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY ARE BEATEN. THEY PLAYED TO THE FINAL WHISTLE AND THEIR FITNESS AND DISCIPLINE WERE A CREDIT TO THE MANAGEMENT TEAM, THEIR PARENTS AND THEIR CLUBS. WELL DONE GIRLS AND HERE`S LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ALL-IRELAND SERIES!!

JUNIOR FOOTBALL

On Monday the 7th of May, 2018 our Juniors got their first win against St. Mary's in the league.  The game had all the signs of a bank holiday weekend game with both teams slow to get going.  Both teams were pretty evenly matched in the first half.  Rovers came out strong in the second half and stamped their authority on the game with Katie Kelleher to the forefront of the scoring we ran out comfortable winners in the end by a scoreline of Bride Rovers 1-15 to St Mary's 0-7 Rovers scorers; Katie 1-6,Elaine 0-3,Mel 0-2, Meeks 0-2, Fiona 0-2U10 FootballOn Friday the 4th of May, 2018 our U10's travelled to Ballyhooly to take part in a blitz hosted by Ballycastle Ladies Club.  On what was a beautiful evening we have two teams each playing three matches which the girls thoroughly enjoyed and played some lovely football.  A big thank you to all the parents that travelled in support of the girls and to Ballycastle for a very well organised Blitz. On Sunday the 6th of May, 2018 we played St. Nicks at home in the league.  The girls continued with their lovely passing brand of football and ran out winners in the end.  F/T Bride Rovers 8-1  St. Nicks 0-0.Team Brid, Aisling, Caoimhe, Monica, Sophie Christine, Katie, Sadhbh, Alicia, Chloe, Brooke, Isabelle, Roisin, Fiabh, Ellie, Caitlyn, Ava, Kayleigh.

U12 FootballOn Thursday 3rd May the under 12s 2006 team played host to Watergrasshill in Pynes.  With summer threatening to raise its lazy head conditions were near perfect for the match. With some injuries in the team We had 16 players available on the night and right from the throw in the girls applied great pressure on Watergrasshill. We held them scoreless almost to half time when we conceded a couple of quick goals. The girls went on to get some nice team scores in the second half.  Unfortunately Watergrasshill went on to add a few more scores later in the second half and pulled away for the victory .  In spite of this great credit must go to all the girls who put in a massive team effort throughout against a stronger Watergrassshill team. Next up for 2006 team is Thursday is away to Mayfield, and away to Aghada. Meanwhile the 2007 team have a local derby versus Fermoy to look forward to.
