U21 Ladies U21 County Championship Our U21 ladies made the long trek to Skibbereen last Sunday afternoon to play O Donovan Rossa in the quarter final of the championship. Injury and illness robbed us of a number of key members of the panel even before the throw-in. In the early stages we were under pressure in defence but we worked hard and made life difficult for the Skibbereen forwards. In attack, we were finding it difficult to score ourselves and went in at half time trailing Skibbereen.
In the second half, Skibbereen hit us for two goals early on and it was an uphill struggle from then on. We did come a lot more into the game in the final quarter and finished strongly with two goals and 4 points to reduce the defecit at the final whistle. Skibbereen were just too strong for us on the day. A notable feature of the game was the solid displays by a number of our younger players. Caoimhe O Sullivan, Caoimhe Kielty and Rebecca Walsh showed that they are serious players for the future and put in a great hours work on the day. Well done to everyone.
