Draw in JFL...

The Junior football team had their second outing of the year away to Glenville on Monday night.  The strong winds we experienced in Cobh were not present, but very soft underfoot conditions made it a difficult game, and the team put in a strong effort to secure a point, with the game ending 1-7 to 2-4.  Daniel Dooley opened the scoring with a well taken point from 30 yards, which was followed up by a point from Richie Cahill.  A good Glenville move resulted in a goal, which they quickly followed up with a point, to put us two points down after 15 minutes.  Bride Rovers finished the first half stronger, with a point from Ken Drury, followed by a goal from Shane O'Flynn.  This was a just reward for the amount of possession we had in the first-half, and the effort of the midfield and half-forward line in delivering good ball into the full-forward line.  The second-half started well with two points in the first ten minutes from William Finnegan.  The four point lead didn't last too long, as Glenville fought back to score a goal and a point to level the game.  Injuries forced Shane Walsh and Conor Barry to be replaced, which coincided with a period of Glenville domination.  We went behind by a point, before Damien Buckley levelled, which was quickly followed by a point from corner-back Griffin O'Keeney, the seventh Bride Rovers players to score in the game.  Glenville piled on the pressure for the last few minutes, and eventually scored a point from a free to level the game.  The final score on full-time was Bride Rovers 1-7 to Glenville's 2-4.  Considering the conditions and the lack of football preparation, this was a well earned point, and credit is due to the sixteen players who worked hard throughout the sixty minutes.

Team: Frank Hogan, Jordan Mannix, Shane Walsh, Griffin O'Keeney, Tadhg O'Sullivan, Ryan Prendergast, Diarmuid O'Keeffe, Damien Buckley, Daniel Dooley, William Finnegan, Richie Cahill, Jake Tobin, Conor Barry, Ken Drury, Shane O'Flynn, Pa O'Driscoll.
