Club 100 On The Way...

Well after months of planning the Club 100 is underway after the official launch in the Rathcormac Inn on Friday night last.  Club PRO John Arnold was MC and recalled the early years of the Club 90 years ago. Initially every member had to pay a fee of one penny per week to help create finances for the Club. Over the years the Club relied on the generosity of landowners all over the parish for use as playing pitches. That pertained until the 1970'swhen Pairc na Bride was purchased. Officially opened in 1985, dressingrooms were added later. In recent times close on €500,000 has been spent on completing two separate floodlit Astro Turf playing areas.  John recalled that in 1928 the Club decided to field 3 teams and this year 48 teams will be on the playing fields. He spoke of the work done by the Finance and Development Committee  in coming up with the Club 100 concept. Basically it's a scheme to ensure a steady stream of finance will be available each year going forward as we build towards our Centenary in 2028. Club Chairman Richie O Regan then addressed the gathering and said that Club 100 was a major undertaking for the Club and it's members but it was a scheme that can make certain our ability to improve our facilities both for players, members and supporters in the years ahead. He outlined the Gold, Silver and Bronze options.
