" A very ambitious and timely project " was how Bride Rovers GAA Club Chairman Richie O Regan described 'Club 100' -a major new fundraising promotion launched officially on Friday last. The Bride Rovers Club is 90 years old this year, having been founded in the Autumn of 1928. "The Club will celebrate it's Centenary in ten years time and we want to ensure that the phenomenal growth of the Club in recent times is matched by the provision of top class playing and spectator facilities as well as catering for the needs of all our Club members" he stated. Ninety years ago when Bride Rovers club was started just three teams, junior hurling and football and minor hurling were fielded. For this the 2018 season a total of 48 teams will carry the famous Green, White and Gold colours. With over 400 playing members and in excess of 500 children in the two National Schools in the parish it is obvious that extra and more modern facilities are vital. Additional playing pitches, a gym, covered stand, catering facilities, club rooms and modernised dressing-rooms are all in the pipeline for the Club.
The Club 100 initiative is aimed at the future as Centenary year approaches. In order to have sufficient funds available for ongoing development a new model of funding is being launched. Basically friends and supporters of Bride Rovers are being asked to join the Club 100 scheme. There are three different Club 100 packages on offer Gold, Silver and Bronze.
