Minor Camogie Girls continue wining streak...

Our minor camogie team continued their good form in Rathcormac last Sunday morning beating Aghada by 4 points in the quarter final of the Minor Camogie county championship. The girls started brightly and in the first 10 minutes more that matched Aghada in all areas of the field. An early free from Sally dropped short but it was grabbed by Sarah and finished to the net. Shortly after that, Sarah, who was causing probems for the Aghada defence had another shot saved by the goalkeeper. That lifted our spirits and we drove on with a couple of more scores, one of which was a beauty from Sally from the sideline on the run. Rachel was dealing comfortably with everything coming at her and the full back line of Emily, Claire and Talitha were keeping tabs on the Aghada full forward line. Our half back line of Katie, Emma and Caoimhe were stopping a lot of the Aghada attacks and giving good ball to our midfield and forwards. Aislinn and Aine were on top in the middle and Fiona, Siobhan and Grace were causing a lot of problems for the Aghada half back line while Sarah, Sally and Lucy were first to every ball in the full forward line. We conceded a soft enough goal just on the stroke of half time to go in level at 1-03 a piece. We will have to work on that as we did the same in the last game against Ballygarvan.

We made one change at half time with Chloe coming on in place of Talitha at corner back and she fitted right in and had a great half hour. It was nip and tuck for most of the second half but Sally`s immaculate striking kept us well in the game. Again we conceded a soft goal that our backs were disappointed with but almost immediately, Sarah had a rasping shop saved by the Aghada keeper only for Siobhan to follow up and drive the rebound to the back of the net. The final puck of the game was a free to us about 30 metres from goal and Sally popped it over to leave 4 points between the teams at the final whistle, which was greeted with scenes of joy by the players management and supporters. The girls now have a county semi-final to look forward to in the coming weeks. Well done again girls!!
