Juniors and Minors in Action..

Junior C Hurlers in Semi Final..

Our Junior C Hurling team are in East cork Championship action on tonight Thursday October 26th. We face Sarsfields in the semi final in Riverstown at 7.45, under lights. We are attempting to win a three-in-a-row of titles in this grade and of course such feats are very difficult. We defeated Lisgoold in our quarter final game while Sarsfields defeated Midleton. Ours is a very experienced team with many of the player having had mighty careers in the Green White and Gold. We reached the Junior C final in 2014 losing out in the Final to Russell Rovers. The following year we captured the title defeating Cobh in the Final and retained it last year with a win overt Midleton. The lads have prepared well with several League and Challenge games in the last two months. Go for it lads.

County Minor Hurling Final.

Weather was the spoilsport last weekend. Heavy rain made many pitches unplayable and as a result our Minor Co Final against Kilshannig fixed for Killavullen on Saturday was postponed. At the Co Board meeting on Tuesday night Kilshannig were fixed to play Grenagh on next Saturday in the County Under 21 B hurling semi final so our game won't go ahead then. The possibility of playing it under lights on Friday or alternatively on Bank Holiday Monday was being explored at the time of writing these notes. Hopefully the game will go ahead at some stage over the weekend. Te reach this Final our Minor Hurlers have played five games. They had wins over Ballygarvan and St Catherines before losing out in the East Region Final to Cobh by a point. With both teams going out in the County Campaign we got back on the winning trail by defeating Bandon.; Then in a 'rematch' of the East Final we had a comprehensive win over Cobh to qualify for the county Final. Kilshannig are in the final on merit. Like us they lost their Regional Final, losing out to Watergrasshill in the North Region Final -a result they later reversed in the County Semi Final. They are Premier in Minor Football - they have reached the County semi final in that grade and have also won the Avondhu under 21 B Hurling Championship title. With most of their players 'on the age' of 18 they are a very physically strong side. Our lads have prepared well though the loss of Matthew Quinn is a big blow. We wish the team and mentors all the very best.

Go for it lads. Bride Rovers Abu.
