This week the club were presented with Sponsorship cheques from our club sponsors. As with all clubs, sponsorship plays a vital role in the club finances. We were delighted that SPAR Rathcormac have renewed there sponsorship of the club and so will continue as the Main Sponsor of Bride Rovers Ladies Football & Camogie Club.We were also delighted to welcome on board Barrys Bar as an additional sponsor to the Senior Ladies Football Team. Barrys Bar is managed by Liam & Sheila Mannix and is a great venue for a party or special occasion. We thank both SPAR Rathcormac & Barrys Bar for their generous sponsorship.

Two Wins from Two for Juniors

Our Junior Ladies welcomed East Cork rivals Erins Own to Pairc Na Bríde on Monday night last for our second game in the Junior C Cork County Championship. After a great win in the previous round v Banteer hopes were high we could continue this winning streak but we knew we had to play to our best to beat Erins Own.

Meg Kelleher was first to register a score for the Rovers in the fifth minute and by the tenth minute points from Colette Hogan and Emma Barry had extended our lead to three. Erins Own struck for a goal to level the score before Colette Hogan got her second point of the evening to restore the Rovers lead. The Rovers girls were playing great football and a move involving Siobhan O'Sullivan, Jessica O'Riordan resulted in Emma Barry winning a penalty which team captain Katie Kelleher duly converted. The Rovers were leading by 1-04 to 1-00 at half time.

On the resumption Erins Own attacked vigourously and were duly awarded for their efforts with a goal and three points without a reply from the Rovers, this meant that Erins Own were now in front by two pints with ten minutes left on the clock. Similiar to the previous game against Banteer the Rovers never gave up and staged a great comeback, first Mel Dorgan palmed the ball to the net and then Meg Kelleher scored a great point to but the Rovers two in front. In those final few frantic moments as Erins Own sought to get that winning goal our defence stood firm and eventually won on a scoreline

Scores obviously win matches but our defence performed heroics in this game to secure the win. Our stand in goalie for the game was Emily Larkin and she played magnificently pulling off some great saves. In front of Emily, expierce was the key with Arlene O'Callaghan at Full Back & Emma O'Keeffe at centre back marshalling the defence superbly. They were flanked by the young ones ! Talitha O'Neill & Aine Cashman played out of their skins in the corners & Aislinn O'Connor & the speedy Anna Greaney doing a great job on the wings. In midfield Siobhan O'Sullivan & Jess O'Riordan provided plenty supporting to both defence & attack.

Team: E.Larkin, T.O'Neill, A.O'Callaghan, A.Cashman, A.O'Connor, E.O'Keeffe, A.Greaney, J.O'Riordan, S.O'Sullivan, , K.Kelleher, C.Hogan, E.Barry, I.Dorgan, L.Pratt, M.Hazelwood, C.Ahern.

Next game for the juniors is against Passage away on Monday 31st July. If we can win this game we will probably qualify for the semi-final.
