Busy Hurling Weekend Coming Up.
This weekend is like the calm before the storm on the club front as we prepare for crucial games in the County Senior Hurling Championship and East Cork Junior A Championship. It will be a hectic weekend on June 24th and 25th with the Seniors playing on Saturday and the Juniors on Sunday. For the County Senior Hurling championship we make the trip to Castletownroche for the second successive year to taker on Avondhu, the North Cork Divisional side. Last year both teams went into the game with a first round win whereas this time around both have suffered defeats. We were very well beaten by Glen Rovers while Avondhu went under to Carbery. We can read nothing into that result for Avondhu however because on the day they were very much understrength and should be stronger on Saturday week in Castletownroche. Since the Glen game we've had three games including two good league wins against Douglas and Newtownshandrum but injuries have caused us major worries with a few players having picked up bad injuries. Avondhu are a huge division and can pick from Fermoy, Kilworth, Kildorrery, Mallow, Charleville, Milford, Ballyhooley, Clyda Rovers and Ballygiblin - a massive pick so they will be very strong opposition
We are going well in the East Cork Junior Hurling League Division 2 with 5 wins. Our opponents in the East Cork JAHC on Sunday week are Russell Rovers who are unbeaten in Division 1 of the JHL. This will be their first team against our second string so it will be a difficult game for our lads. The Shanagarry side have got a big boost with the return of Bud Hartnett after a spell with Midleton. The JAHC game is fixed for Dungourney.
The Junior team have a league game on this coming Saturday night June 17th when we are away to St Itas in Pilmore at 7.30pm.
Division 3 JHL.
On this Friday night June 16th we play Watergrasshill in Division 3 of the JHL at home at 7.30pm. This is the opening league game for our third team.
Cork v Waterford.
There was great disappointment in Cork GAA circles early in the week when it was announced that nether Munster Senior Final will be played in the new Pairc Ui Chaoimh. With the footballers in the provincial final v Kerry and the hurlers bidding for a final place on Sunday next there was great sense of anticipation Leeside at the prospect of a possible two Senior Finals in the new stadium. This will not now happen but that wont stop the Rebel Army travelling in the tens of thousands to Semple Stadium on Sunday next. Over the last decade Cork and Waterford have provided us with some fantastic games in the hurling championship. Hopefully next Sunday we will have another great contest. Cork had a brilliant win over Tipperary in the quarter final a few weeks back but will face a new challenge against the Decies on Sunday. Safe travelling to all heading to Thurles.

The under 9 hurlers played St Finbarrs last Saturday. We had a total of twenty one players who played in two matches and had a great win over the city side. On this Saturday June 17th we play Glenville at home in football.
Under 12 Hurling.
We played our last Under 12 hurling league game last Sunday morning, at home to St Catherines. The visitors had the gale and the rain with them in the first half and raced into a good lead. Our lads tried hard with the elements in the second half but couldn't overhaul the strong St Catherines side.
