Cork U17 Hurlers claimed the Munster U17 Championship in Fraher Field Dungarvan on Tuesday night, when they overcame the stiff challenge of the home team.
After a tonic start leading 1-1 to no score, it was a titanic struggle all through the opening 30 minutes and Waterford reclaimed the initiative with a goal of their own and led at half time by a single point 1-9 to 1-8.
Cork playing with the breeze in the second half, took control and a very tight defensive unit held firm and confined the home team to just three points, while Cork picked off some fine scores and a brace of goals from Owen McCarthy helped Cork to a .3-13 to 1-12 victory
A great night for Cork and especially for our own two club men Eoin and Brian Roche who put a great performance over the sixty minutes.
