Second League Win For Juniors...

Our Junior Hurling team played Sarsfields in Division Two of the East Cork Junior Hurling League in Pairc na Bride last Friday night April 21st. It was lively contest with both sides scoring some great points. Goals win games and a green flag from Jerome O Driscoll proved to be a decisive score in the game. We had six points to spare at the end winning by 1 15 to 0  12. We had a game against St. Catherines scheduled for last night, Wednesday but this went off at the request of our opponents.

Team v Sarsfields; Frank Hogan, Tomas Kearney, Brian Collins, Jack Kearney, Liam Forde, Brendan Walsh, Barry Collins, Mike Liddane, Adrian Buckley, Sean Ryan, Stephen Hackett, Jason Mannix, Jesse Barry O Keeffe, Jerome O Driscoll, Jake Tobin, Owen Murphy, Shane O Flynn, Christopher Coleman, James Barry, Brian Lahive.

MINOR HURLING;

On Thursday last Cobh visited Pairc Na Bride to play Rovers in our second Rebel Og MH league game of the year.

The game ended in a very entertaining draw and much encouragement can be drawn from the manner in which we came back to draw level and maybe were a little unlucky not to win the game. The first half was a very even affair and we went in at half time a point down 1-6 to 0 8.

At the start of the second half we conceded 2 goals and with 17 minutes to play we were 9 points in arrears. With some  great defending from Ben Hogan in goal and the back line we moved the ball more freely and the comeback was on when Christopher drove home a cracking shot from the 21. Conleith Ryan was tormenting their back line and we pegged away at the lead and eventually got level which was certainly a fair result in the night.

Team : - Ben Hogan, John O Sullivan, Matthew Quinn, Ruairi O’ Sullivan, Peter O’ Leary, Patrick O’ Flynn, Griffin O’ Sullivan, Conor Barry Jordan Mannix, Cian Hogan, Conleith Ryan, Tom Murray, Fergus Sheehan, Shane O’ Flynn, Seamus Ahern.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL.

Bride Rovers 5-07
Youghal 2-05

This week we turned our focus to football. We played Youghal at home on Monday night . We were minus a few boys through injuries and holidays so we were under pressure for players.  We took to the field with a very young team. Though depleted our lads played some fine football. Youghal started the brighter having two points on the board before we settled. Patrick O Flynn was now dominating at centre back and Matthew Quinn and Seamus  were dominating at midfield. Cian Hogan was causing havoc in the forward line. We led at half time 2-3 to 1-3. Seamus had to go off at half time through injury. So it was going to be tough going in the second half. But our lads withstood the Youghal attacks and got some great scores. All of the U14 and our 2 U -13 played well. A great win.

UNDER 8 FOOTBALL.

Our under 8 football team took part in the Glanmire  blitz held at Buck Learys Cross.  We fielded three teams and each team played 3 games. We were very competitive in all games. All the players displayed great skill and endeavour. There was great support from the sidelines also. This was the third blitz this year after a hurling competition in Fermoy and football in Ballyhooley.
Training continues on Wednesday nights at 6:30 and Saturday mornings at 10.

UNDER 14 HURLING.

We played Whitechurch in the under 14 League on Wednesday of last week. The team panel is plagued with injuries at present and for this game we were short five players.  It was tough competitive contest which Whitechurch won by 1. 14 to 0 10 -Edmond Cashman was our top scorer with five points, Adam Walsh  0 3 and Adam Hayes and Ronan O Connell scored a point each. Our game against Eire Og was cancelled due to a bereavement.
