On Saturday afternoon, the u14 ladies football team travelled to Carrigtwohill to play their first game of the East Cork League. The team had a full squad and eight subs. Bride Rovers won the toss and elected to play with the wind in the first half. They notched up an impressive 5-8 tally in the first half as against 1-1 from Carrigtwohill. This was in no way relfective of the game though as Bride Rovers had a strong wind and slight hill advantage. As expected, it proved to be a classic "game of two halves" and the home side reversed the order in the second half, coming within two points of the Rovers with just minutes to go. Fair play to the ladies for holding on to the lead to win the game. All the subs came on, and each and every player worked hard for the victory in what was a very good and sporting match.
Team: Cliona Edmonds, Alice Murray, Naoise McCarthy, Alanna Broderick, Michelle Geaney, Abby Keating, Caoimhe Kielty, Sarah Morrison, Leah Hallihan, Ava Hallihan (3-0), Shauna Hayes (1-4), Kate Larkin (0-1), Ruby Hicks (0-1), Ciara O'Flynn (1-3), Niamh O'Sullivan.
