Annual General Meeting on Friday night...

The Annual General Meeting of the Bride Rovers Hurling and Football Club will be held in Rathcormac Hall on this coming Friday night November the 25th at 8pm and all are welcome to attend. The AGM will review the season of 2016 and plan for 2017. During this past season we had some brilliant results especially in hurling. The Senior Team reached the quarter final of the SHC and semi final of the RED FM SHL but lost both games by two point margins, to Douglas and Blackrock. Our Junior C Hurling team retained their East Cork championship title while the Minor Hurlers won the Rebel Og East League.  Overall it was year of steady progress for the Club. We are oh so close to making that breakthrough at Senior level -hopefully 2017 will be the year. We are appealing to all our players and members and loyal supporters to come to the AGM

- the Bride Rovers Club is for everyone and we want the views and ideas and suggestions of as many as possible. These are exciting and challenging times for the Club and we have a place for everyone in our ranks. We are always seeking new hurlers and footballers to play with the club teams so if you are interested please contact any Club Officer. It's not just players we seek -maybe you are interested in helping with coaching or training, with pitch maintenance, grass cutting, gardening, catering, fund raising or any one of the many little jobs that are vital in a club like ours. 'many hands make light work' said the Chinese long ago and though they knew little about Hurling Clubs their sayings are still true today. Our GAA Club is at the heart of our community. We are so lucky that many people who have come to live in the parish in recent years have got involved. We welcome everyone -players, supporters , workers and anyone interested in promoting gaelic games in the area. So do come along to the AGM on Friday night.

 COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT VACANCIES.

There are two vacancies on the Dept of Social Protection Community Employment Scheme sponsored by Bride Rovers GAA Club. Successful applicants will be required to work nineteen and a half hours each week. The work entails maintenance and upkeep of the Club's pitches and other facilities. Enquiries please telephone 086 3009107.

ST COLMANS WIN DEAN RYAN FINAL REPLAY

On last Saturday November the 18th St Colmans College, Fermoy met Thurles CBS in the replay of the Final of the Dean Ryan Cup at the gaelic Grounds in Limerick. Though the day was bitterly cold the conditions for hurling were grand on the Ennis Road. Like the drawn game this contest was thriller with both teams having spells of supremacy. On three occasions Thurles CBS looked like pulling away but each time Colmans responded in style showing great courage and skill. With time almost up Thurles took the lead with a goal. It looked like a winning score but in an unbelievable last four minutes Colmans scored 1 2 to win by a margin of two points. It was great day for the Bride Rovers Club as St Colmans captured the Dean Ryan Cup for the first time since 2003.  The Roche twins Eoin and Brian are joint captains of the team and in total eleven Bride Rovers players were involved -Moycarkey-Borris had nine players on the Thurles CBS panel. It was mighty occasion for our Club and great credit is due to all those who have trained and coached the lads over the years. Along with Brian and Eoin, Ben Hogan, Jordan Mannix, Conleith Ryan, Conor Barry, Patrick O Flynn, Matthew Quinn, Shaunie Knox, Cian Hogan and Oisin Roche lined out for Colmans. Well done lads on a great day for St Colmans, Bride Rovers and Cork hurling. On next Saturday it's back to the gaelic Grounds in Limerick once more when St Colmans take on Gort Community School(Galway) in the All Ireland semi final at 2 o clock. This will be the third Saturday in a row in Limerick for these young hurlers. Best of luck lads.
