Annual General Meeting on 25th...
The Annual General Meeting of the Bride Rovers Hurling and Football Club will be held in Rathcormac Hall on Friday November the 25th at 8pm and all are welcome to attend. The AGM will review the season of 2016 and plan for 2017. During this past season we had some brilliant results especially in hurling. The Senior Team reached the quarter final of the SHC and semi final of the RED FM SHL but lost both games by two point margins, to Douglas and Blackrock. Our Junior C Hurling team retained their East Cork championship title while the Minor Hurlers won the Rebel Og East League. Overall it was year of steady progress for the Club. We are oh so close to making that breakthrough at Senior level -hopefully 2017 will be the year. We are appealing to all our players and members and loyal supporters to come to the AGM
- the Bride Rovers Club is for everyone and we want the views and ideas and suggestions of as many as possible. These are exciting and challenging times for the Club and we have a place for everyone in our ranks. We are always seeking new hurlers and footballers to play with the club teams so if you are interested please contact any Club Officer. It's not just players we seek -maybe you are interested in helping with coaching or training, with pitch maintenance, grass cutting, gardening, catering, fund raising or any one of the many little jobs that are vital in a club like ours. 'many hands make light work' said the Chinese long ago and though they knew little about Hurling Clubs their sayings are still true today. So do come along to the AGM on Friday week.
COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT VACANCIES.
There are two vacancies on the Dept of Social Protection Community Employment Scheme sponsored by Bride Rovers GAA Club. Successful applicants will be required to work nineteen and a half hours each week. The work entails maintenance and upkeep of the Club's pitches and other facilities. ST COLMANS IN DEAN RYAN FINAL REPLAY
On next Saturday November the 18th St Colmans College, Fermoy meet Thurles CBS in the replay of the Final of the Dean Ryan Cup. Last Saturday the teams couldn't be separated, even after extra time. It was a high scoring game that produced thrilling hurling and great scores. It is expected that once more the replay will be at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick -the throw in time had not been finalised at the time of writing. We wish Colmans all the very best and especially the Bride Rovers contingent.

BALLYEA GOING WELL.
Ballyea won their first ever Clare Senior Hurling title just a few weeks ago and now are facing Glen Rovers in the Munster Final. The Clare side shocked Thurles Sarsfields in the provincial semi final last week. Tony Kelly is their best known player while their wing back James Murphy played in the green, whit and gold of Bride Rovers in 2015. James was working down in Cork last year and threw in his lot with us. We wish James and all his team-mates the very best in the Munster Final.
ASTRO TURF BOOKING.
All bookings of the two Astro Turf playing areas are to be made by contacting the Club Runai Daniel Lane at 087 2070100.
MICK DOLAN RIP.
One of the greatest characters in Cork GAA died last Monday. Mick Dolan of Fermoy was a larger than life figure in Gaelic games in his beloved Cork. He served his Club and Division as a player and officer of great tenacity and determination. Appointed Development Officer of Cork County Board in 1999 Mick was instrumental in securing beneficial grants from the Munster Council for many Clubs in Cork including Bride Rovers. He served as vice chairman of the Board from 2003 until 2005 when he was elected as Chairman. Mick was a real grass roots GAA man and was so proud to be elected to the highest office in Cork GAA. He was great administrator and regular contributor to debates on every issue pertaining to the Association he loved so much. He was mighty company to be with and shortened many a journey with his witty conversation. We will miss him strolling across the bridge in Fermoy and stopping to talk to everyone he'd meet. With his 'Hi lad, c'mere I want you..' you always felt better after a chat with Mick. Truly he gave a lifetime of service to the GAA at so many levels. He lived, loved and breathed the GAA and was a supporter in the real sense of the word and in recent months he was looking forward with pride to the reopening of Pairc Ui Chaoimh next summer. To his wife Liz, family Ger, Colette and Miksey we extend our deepest sympathy - Miksey had a double bereavement this week as his father in law Michael Conlon also passed away. People like Mick Dolan are examples of what real GAA heroes are like, always prepared to give for the good of the GAA and never expecting anything in return except the joy of seeing young people playing and enjoying hurling and football. May he rest in peace after a full and generous life.
