Minors win Replay..
Bride Rovers 3.09 Grenagh 1.09
In what has been a hectic week for Bride Rovers minor footballers they advanced to the quarter final of the Rebel Og's Eastern Championship after a pulsating hour's football at windswept Pairce na Bride Rathcormac on last Saturday evening when they overcame Grenagh. A week earlier these two teams could not be separated when ended all square 3 3 to 1 9 in Grenagh. On this occasion Bride Rovers playing into a strong wind in the opening half found the going tough as Grenagh piled on the pressure and the mid Cork team were 3 points to the good in the early minutes but the Rovers rallied when Dylan Brown kicked a 40 meter free into the wind to dissect the uprights. Grenagh raised two white flags to increase their lead 0 5 to 0 1 but Dylan was on hand again this time from play to cut the margin. This was followed by an excellent Brian Roche point, but coming up to half time Grenagh stormed up the field and finished to the net to put the visitors 1-5 to 0-3 ahead. Going in at the break the Rovers were probably in a happier position and their three first half points could be vital in a game of two halves. With the gale force wind behind them the Rovers took the game to Grenagh and were unlucky not to goal in the opening minutes of the second half but a string of saves and the cross bar kept Grenagh with a clean sheet. Minutes later Dylan Browne planted a bullet in the net to eat into Grenagh's lead. Now the Rovers were flying in all sectors and a brace of goals for the impressive Brian Roche put the Rovers in a commanding position. Dylan Browne and Conor Barry added further points, Barry's second a brilliant effort after being set up by the hardworking DJ Cahill. Grenagh fought their way back and added a few points but the Rovers held on for a great victory. All Bride Rovers players that played on the day were excellent all through and especially in the first half when the defence was tested to the full but each and everyone of them stood tall to save the day. They now move on to a quarter final meeting with Killeagh/Ita's. No date is yet fixed for this game but September the 1st is a possibility.

RED FM Cork County Senior Hurling League.
We regained our top spot in the REDFM Co SHL: after a good win over Carrigtwohill on Saturday evening at Pairc na Bride. In front of a large crowd this game was the second part of the 'double-header' with the Minor Footballers playing first. The wind was even stronger for the Senior game. We played with the elements and got some nice early points. A goal from Twiggy helped us to a 1 11 to 0 2 half time lead . It was a decent lead but such was the strength of the breeze puckouts from the top goals were landing in the other square. Carrig came much more into the contest and added 1 9 to their tally. We notched up a further 1 6 to leave the final score Carrigtwohill 1-11. Bride Rovers 2-17.

JUNIORS PIPPED IN ROVERS SHOWDOWN.
On Sunday evening Russell Rovers were visitors when their second team played our third XV in a JHL Division 3 game. The strong wind which blew all weekend was still in action on Sunday evening. The Shanagarry side made full use of the elements to go ahead by 1 8 to 0 3 after twenty minutes. We finished the half strongly with goals from Pat Walsh and Donal Ryan and were just a point 1 9 to 2 5 behind at the break. Playing with the wind we had a wide-fest before establishing a two point lead near the end of the contest. Unfortunately Russell Rovers snatched a late wining goal to win by 2 10 to 2 9 after a good game played with great heart and spirit.

CAMOGIE SUCESSS.
Well done to Cork Intermediate camogie team on reaching the All Ireland Final by defeating Laois last weekend. Jennifer Barry captains the team and Mossy O Sullivan is one of the 'backroom team' . The final will be the curtain raiser to the Senior final on September the 11th in Croke Park.
CORK 1966 TEAM.
We extend our best wishes to Fr Seanie Barry and his team mates of 1966 who gather to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of that victory on this coming Friday night. Thankfully after half a century the majority of the 1966 panel are hale and hearty. Jerry O Sullivan of Glen Rovers died in 1985 at the age of 45 and just a few weeks back John Bennett of Blackrock died. Jerry and John will be fondly remembered when the men of 1966 gather on Friday night. Fifty years ago Cork defeated Clare after a replay, Limerick, Waterford and Kilkenny to win the All Ireland for the first since 1954.Top scorer in the Championship that year was our own Seanie Barry with 3 23 from 5 games followed by Paddy Molloy(Offaly) on 4 14 from 3 games and Eddie Keher (Kilkenny) on 0 22 from 3 games. Denis Hurley of Sarsfields was a selector on the Cork team and is still active as ever with his Club. We hope that the function on Friday night is a very pleasant one for a great team who brought such happiness to Cork people everywhere five decades ago.
BEST WISHES TO ST.CATHERINE'S.
Best wishes to St Catherines Junior Hurling team who take on Sars on Saturday in Youghal in the East Cork Final.
