Seniors unlucky against Mourneabbey...

Bride Rovers Senior Ladies suffered a three point defeat against County & Munster Champions Mourneabbey on a lovely sunny evening in Rathcormac on Sunday last on a scoreline of 2-07 to 0-10. Despite this defeat the Rovers put up a very brave & gutsy performance.

The Rovers opened the scoring with a pointed free from Grace Culloty in the 5th minute. Before Bride Rovers were to score again Mourneabbey scored 1-03 without reply. However the Rovers finished the half strong with 4 unanswered points coming from Trish O’Sullivan, who had one of her finest games for the Rovers, another pointed free from Grace Culloty, a well worked score from Sinead Walsh and a superbly taken point from new girl Eimear Knightly.
This left the half-time score Bride Rovers 0-05 Mourneabbey 1-03.

The Rovers started the second half well, a pointed free from Grace Culloty had the teams level before Grace Kearney put us in front after 34 minutes. However like in the first half, Mourneabbey hit a purple patch and scored 1-02 without reply. A pointed free from Grace Culloty in the 45th minute reduced their lead to a goal. Two more points from Mourneabbey in the 55th & 56th minute restored their 5 point advantage. However the Rovers never gave up, creating several scoring opportunties, scoring two late points from the boot of Grace Culloty and with that the game finished Bride Rovers 0-10 Mourneabbey 2-07.

The Rovers team have to be commended for their hardwork and resolute defending against a top class team. Caitriona Vaughan made some outstanding saves in goal and the defence & midfield as a unit were outstanding forcing Mourneabbey back or having them kick under pressure.

Our u12 girls had a very busy weekend playing football and Camogie.
Firstly playing football away to Youghal Fri night. Although they were up against a very strong team girls played great football and had a very competitive game.
Early Saturday morning a team went up to Thurles and played a blitz in Caman then on to Semple Stadium. Playing teams from Tipperary, Clare and Waterford it was a great experience for the girls and they really enjoyed it.
Well done to all girls over the weekend.

On Sunday morning the 8th of May, 2016, the under 14 camogie team travelled to Dungourney for their second game of the league. Both teams lined out with fourteen aside and the first half was quite competitive. The score at half time stood Bride Rovers 2-1, Dungourney 3-4. Although the girls competed for every ball, marked well and scored another 2-1 in the second half, they were in hard luck not to convert more scores and Dungourney pulled away to win by a strong margin. Well done to Bride Rovers who were not lacking in spirit and team effort, and they are certainly improving with each game.
