Hurling Fest in Pitch.

At last the weather has turned somewhat kinder and pitches are busy each afternoon and evening. The last weekend of April saw a total of six games played at home and on last Saturday the closing day of April a programme of three games was played in Pairc na Bride - a junior  game and two senior games, all hurling league contests. Truly the clash reverberated in the Bride Valley from afternoon until dusk. First into action was our senior team in a REDFM SHL game against Sarsfields. This was followed by our junior team against Carrignavar. The third part of the triple-decker was another SHL game between Midleton and Ballymartle. We had two good wins in our games. Before Saturdays marathon exhibition of hurling was had an away game on the previous Wednesday night in Riverstown against Sars in the Junior League.

We started very well and  kept on level terms with a very strong Sars team for the first twenty five minutes. Then the home side rattled in two goals and three points before half time leaving  the half time score was 2-14 to 0-9 in favour of Sars.  The second was evenly matched but Sarsfields  held onto the lead for the rest of the game.  Our lads  played well against a very strong home team.  The final score was Sars 2-1 6 Bride  Rovers 0-14.

The RED FM SHL game was our sixth game in the competition with three wins and two losses so far. Sarsfields started the best and a brace of goals helped them to a four point lead,  Sarsfields 2-7. Bride Rovers 0-9. The second period saw a total of 1 14 scored. We got some great point and a Richard Whitty goal was great boost and we held out for a one point win on a final scoreline of   Sarsfields 2.13. Our East Cork Junior League Division 1 game against Carrignavar was great high-scoring game. Carrig started very strongly and were leading at half time by 4 points. The visitors seemed much livelier in the opening period while we seemed very tired looking but it was the teams third game in seven days Half time score was Carrignavar 0-10, Bride Rovers 0-6. In the second half the Rovers produced a performance of very good lively hurling but the visitors still kept the lead for most of the period. Entering the last five minutes Colm Power scored a great goal to level the game. Carrignavar came back and went a point ahead but we responded with the last three points.  A long range free from Jerome was followed by a classic point from Steven Hackett from 60mteres along the side line.   The final point came from DJ Cahill.  This was a very good game and the Rovers brought off a great win over a gallant Carrig team .
