Blackrock Finish Strongly...

Normally a score of 3  13 would win a hurling game but on Saturday evening last we were blitzed in the last few minutes by the Rockies. The first half of this game at Church Road was even enough with both sides swopping points and the lead. At the short whistle Blackrock led by 9 points to 8. The scoring rate increased dramatically on the second half. Three goals helped us into a five point lead with ten minutes to go and a fourth League win seemed likely. The home side had other ideas and turned a five point deficit into a six point margin of victory 3 19 to 3  13 was the final score, certainly one that got away. 

Panel v Blackrock was  D Dooley, R Whitty, M Collins, W Finnegan, S. Glasgow, S Ryan, J Pratt, B Johnson, S Walsh, B Murphy, C O Connor, R Prendergast, D Carr, T O Sullivan, J O Driscoll.

On Sunday evening Waterford Intermediate side Dunhill were visitors to Pairc na Bride for a challenge hurling game which they won by 1  16 to 1  9.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL ON SATURDAY.

After a heavy defeat by Fr O Neills in the first round of the East Cork A Grade Football championship two weeks ago we are back in action on this Saturday April the 9th. We face Glenville at 3 o clock -no venue had been finalised at the time of writing. Wherever the game is played it will be a tough ask for us as this Glenville side have had plenty games in Junior league and u21 as well. Go for it lads.

CLUB LOTTO.

The Jackpot for Tuesday March 29th was 3400 Euro. The four numbers drawn were  6,14,21 and 24 and there was no winner. The winners of 30 Euro each were Caragh Arnold Mondaniel, Anne Cahill Rathcormac,  Pa O Driscoll, Jack Johnson Bartlemy and Patsy Kelleher Cobh. The Jackpot for Tuesday April 5th was 3600Euro. Tickets are just 2 Euro each and can be purchased from club members and in local business outlets and online atlocallotto.ie

FIXTURES MEETING.

The first meeting of the new Fixtures Sub Committee was held last week to plan ahead for the next three weeks. The months of April and May will be super busy with matches on all fronts practically every night.

JACKIE DALY RIP

The death last weekend of Jackie Daly caused widespread sadness in the parish. Jackie was truly a great character. After working abroad for many years Jackie returned to Ireland some years back. Since then he was a great follower of the Rovers at every grade. He was a great wit and the very best of company and will be sadly missed. Our condolences to all his family and his many, many friends. 

Astro Turf

Our Astro Turf facility is proving very popular at the moment and some slots are still available. The schedule is on the Club websitewww.briderovers.ie

Membership Fees for 2016.

Club Membership Fees for the 2016 season are now due. The fee for Adult Players is €100. For Student Players and non playing ordinary Club members the fee is  €50. For OAP's the fee is €20.  Membership Fees can be paid to the Club Treasurer or any Club Officer or Team mentors. If anyone wants to pay the membership fee in two instalments or more  arrangements can be made to facilitate this.

'The Odd Couple'

Last weekend the local Shanowen Players put on Neil Simon's 'The Odd Couple -Female Version'. It is a marvellous show and if you missed it last weekend make sure to see it this coming weekend in Rathcormac Hall.

MIXED LEAGUE FORTUNE FOR CORK.

The Cork senior teams had mixed luck on Sunday. The football; team ended their NFL campaign with 6 point but got relegated along with Down on scoring averages. The Cork hurlers went to Salthill to face Galway after winning no League game but came out on top by three points to stay in Division 1 next year.  Cork hurlers will play Clare in a game to mark the opening of the new Cloyne GAA Complex on Saturday fortnight.
