Club Notes for last week.. - 2020-03-03 18:44:00

Na Piarsaigh on Sunday.

We play our second game in the 2020 County Division 1 Hurling League next Sunday March 8th at 3pm when we are home to Na Piarsaigh. We had a good opener with a win over the Glen and next Sunday will provide a very stiff test.

Under 21 BFC.

We were billed to play the semi final of the East Cork u21 FC this weekend but Storm Hurhey last weekend put paid to that. We are in the semi final but the Glenville v Erins Own game went off and is now being played this weekend with our semi off until next weekend.

UNDER 10 HURLERS WELCOME!

Under 10 hurling training is on every Saturday at 11:30 in the big astro. All boys born in the year 2010 are eligible. New players are always wanted and are very welcome. Bride Rovers Juvenile Club provides a safe and enjoyable environment for the playing of Gaelic Games.  Parents are encouraged to get the lads involved and it doesn't matter if no one in the family ever played hurling or football before.

Sports Prediction Quiz.

It’s Sports Prediction Quiz time again and you've just a few days to join. This fundraiser has been a great success for the Club over the last few years. This year we have selected 21 National and International Sporting events from March til October of this year. The first event is to predict the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and the final prediction to be made is to pick the winner of the Cork Premier Senior Football Championship. For all your predictions you are given four possible ‘winners’ or if you want to pick someone else you can select ‘Other’. Different points are allocated to each selection and whoever accumulates the most points will be the winner. Tickets priced at €10 are now on sale from Club Members. The Closing date for entries is nearly here, it's March 9th so do join up straight away. If anyone gets the 21 predictions all correct a grand prize of €3000 is on offer. If there is no 'all-correct' entry it's the best points total. In That case we are giving prizes of €500, €200, €100  and two prizes of €50 ach. If you're not in you can't win. If any of the Sports Events ar cancelled because of the Corona Virus the Committee will make the necessary adjustments.

Under 11 boys.

Our U11 lads are off the mark for the upcoming season. We’re starting off with 1 session a week for the next month or so but will increase to two sessions as the season progresses. Hurling training this Friday night March the 5th at 6:30 in the small Astro.

We had our first hurling session of the year last Friday night in the small Astro...we started in perfect weather at 6:30 but had a deluge from 7:15 on. However it was great to see the enthusiasm from the lads who ploughed on regardless.
Football training this Friday night at 6:30 in the small Astro.

CPR.
We facilitated a CPR session in Scoil Bride on Saturday morning last in association with the Irish Heart foundation. While we have a defibrillator in the club we thankfully have never had a reason to turn it on but the need to be prepared for these eventualities is vital. We had expected to have 70 to 75 attendees but ended up with 95!! This surprised our excellent trainer on the day, Paul Traynor who gave 3 great sessions on the morning. Many thanks to Margaret Howard for the use of the school and to Linda Ahern who helped out on the morning.

UNDER 13 ACTIVITY.

Under13 training has started for the new season each Monday and Thursday at  6:30 in the Astro.

DRAMA IN BARTLEMY.

A further night of Drama is being held in Bartlemy hall on Friday week March 13th when 4 one-act plays will be staged by the Pyke Theatre Group. Curtain up at 8pm.

With the awful weather we have had having this facility to train on is a real bonus to our young players.
We are struggling to get a challenge games as most pitches around the county are closed but hopefully we will have a game on Sunday 15th v Carrigaline.

FLANNANS TAKE HARTY AGAIN.
