Senior Hurling Championship Time..

It's only the first week of May but already we are playing our first game in the 2017 Cork Senior Hurling Championship. When the 2017 Draws were made at County convention last December we were drawn out for a Preliminary round game. Against Glen Rovers. They don’t come any harder than this one. Since our rise to Senior ranks we've played the Glen several times with some good results. Our last Championship meeting was in 2015. It was a game where we seemed to be going well but the Glen finished strongly to defeat us. They went on that autumn to win their first County SH title in many years and retained their crown last September with a win over Erins Own. The Blackpool side are now seeking a three in a row of Cork Senior Hurling championships and have been installed as favourites by many to do so. Winning tow Counties is a great achievement and as a result the Glen have a very settled look about them. There is an old saying that 'The Bigger They Come the Harder They Fall' and in Club championship hurling anything can happen. To date we've had a poor League campaign with a draw against Carrigtwohill our only positive result. Our lads always relish a challenge when it comes to Championship time and this game will be a huge one to try and overcome. The game is fixed for Pairc Ui Rinn at 8 pm on Saturday night next and as it's a Preliminary Round game there will be extra time if the game ends in a draw. No doubt this is as tough a task as we've ever had at Senior Level but I think the lads are up for it, go for it lads and give of ye're best. Let's have a huge vocal support on Saturday night.

 LOTTO JACKPOT  AT €11,000.

The Lotto Jackpot on last Tuesday April the 25th was €10,800. The numbers drawn were 11, 13, 18 and 25 and there was no winner on the night. The winners of €30 each were Denis Fitzgerald main St, Batty Hogan Kildinan, Mary Murphy Kildinan, M& M Hayes Curraghprevin, and Mags McDonagh, Rathcormac.. The Jackpot for Tuesday May 2nd was €11,000. Tickets cost just €2 each and can be purchased in local business outlets, from club members and online at Locallotto.ie The weekly Lotto is the Club's main source of income and with major developments shortly to get underway fundraising will be high on our agenda. Providing more and better playing and training facilities for all our teams and supporters is our goal.

WELL DONE EOIN AND BRIAN.

What a week it's been for the Roche twins Eoin and Brian from Gearagh, Kildinan. On Tuesday night of last week in Fraher Field Dungarvan the lads starred with the Cork under 17 hurling team that captured the Munster Championship. Then on Monday came the news that the pair of them had been selected on the Cork Minor team to play Waterford in the first round of the Munster Minor Hurling Championship against Waterford. This game was played last night (Wednesday) in Pairc Ui Rinn. Over the years we have had a few players on Cork minor teams but one has to go back to 1933 to find more than one Bride Rovers player on a Cork under 18 team. The Minor Inter County Championship this year has a special  significance as it's the last year of the Minor grade being for under 18 year old players. From 2018 onwards Minor will be under 17. Well done and the best of Luck to Eoin and Brian.

MUNSTER MEDALS FOR GRACE AND SARAH.
