Huge Work at Pairc na Bride, Rathcormac. ..

Two years ago the Bride Rovers GAA Club launched it's Club 100 Fundraiser to ensure finance for major Developments as the Clubs heads to it's Centenary in 2028. Club 100 has been a great success and though this season of 2020 was quiet for months on the playing front massive work has been undertaken and completed at the Rathcormac HQ of Bride Rovers. Under the Chairmanship of Gerard Lane different sub-committees were allocated various projects for completion in this Calendar year.

The club grounds were purchased in 1977. Developing the playing pitch took a few years with the first games played in 1983. The Official Opening took place on June 2nd 1985 with a Cork v Offaly Senior Hurling game. The grounds were named Pairc na Bride -after the local River Bride and the Dressingroom Block was dedicated as Arus de Barra in memory of Tom Barry NT who was first Club Secretary in 1928 and still very involved up until his death  in March -just months before  GAA President Con Murphy 'cut the ribbon'  on the development.

Over the years the facilities have been gradually improved but with massive numbers now involved extra amenities were needed. Two Astro Turf areas have been added in recent years Two years ago an adjoining piece of land was bought. This summer this ground was levelled and seeded as a juvenile pitch which will be invaluable for teams from under 5 up to under 12 levels. Funding for this project was sourced through a GAA Loan sanctioned by Croke Park A complete new perimeter fence has been erected with a walkway around this. When Pairc UI Chaoimh was being redeveloped the old seats were made available to Clubs . This year Bride Rovers put 150 seats in place on concrete terracing which is a wonderful facility for spectators at games and for our own club members and parents. We now also have car Parking space for hundreds of cars. A large portakabin has been re-designed as a meeting room and catering area. The toilets have been upgraded and work is ongoing updating the dressingrooms, referees room and Club Gym. During this year a CCTV security system was installed for the pitch and all the facilities. The Pairc na Bride grounds have hosted many East Cork and County Board games over the years as well as providing playing facilities for our own Club teams -now amounting to o nearly 60 teams in total. In the last decade the Bride Rovers Club has expended close on €800,000 on all the different stages of grounds and facilities upgrades. Our Weekly Club Lotto, Club 100, the Cork GAA Members Draw, National Sports Capital Funding as well as our local Parish Development Fund have provided the required finance. The development work is ongoing. Short term and five year Plans ar being formulated to ensure our future needs are catered. A word of thanks to our own Club Officers, Sub Committees, Executive Members, Sponsors and the people of Bartlemy, Rathcormac and Bartlemy for their help and generosity. Bride Rovers Abu.
