Table Quiz...

On this coming Saturday night November the 18th our Juvenile Club are holding their annual Table Quiz in the Rathcormac Inn.  The Quiz is a Club Fund Raiser but also a major social get-together of members and parents and mentors at the end of a hectic season. What a season it's been with County Titles in Minor and under 16 hurling and brilliant performances from all club teams down to under 6. Bride Rovers teams played all over the County and far beyond Cork as well, in places like Thurles and Celbridge. The commitment from the different team members has been phenomenal. Close to 400 training sessions have been held by our different teams - and that's not counting matches played. The season isn't finished yet with under 14 and Minor Hurling Leagues to be completed but on Saturday night we gather for a fun event which will also help defray the huge cost involved in running a Club with so many teams. The Table Quiz is for everyone and the questions won't be too hard. Teams of four persons can take part and if you haven't got  three others just come along on the night and we will be able to make up teams on the night. Tye Quiz is timed to start at 8.30 in the Rathcormac Inn, see ye there.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALLERS PIPPED.

Pairc Risteard Ui Chinneide was the setting on Thursday night of last week for the Rebel Og East Under 16 Football final. The game was played under lights with Fr O Neills our opponents. The Ballymacoda/Ladysbridge side were out of the hurling competition with several weeks so concentrated on football since then.  It told as Fr O Neills started very well and had a goal and two points in the first twelve minutes. Like our Minor Football game a while back against Slieverue above in Delaneys pitch, a heavy defeat seemed likely. Our lads however have shown great heart and spirit and they had it in spades last Thursday night. After Cian Hogan raised our first white flag Shaunie Knox burst through for a goal and we were only a point in arrears. Fr O Neills then took over again and added a further 1 3 before the break while we managed just one more white flag. That left the half time score at Fr O Neills 2 5 Bride Rovers 1  3.  We had three great points early in the second half from Cian, Kieran Kearney and Seamus Ahern but then we suffered a double whammy with O Neills gaoling twice. Again our lads responded well and when Kieran Kearney kicked a superb goal we were back in the game big time with just three points in it.  Cian Hogan kicked over two great points to leave the narrowest margin between the two teams. The lads tried so hard but just couldn't get an equaliser and Fr O Neills won by 4 5 to 2 10. It was great game and a tough one to lose but fair play to our lads for the effort they put in.It's been a superb year at under16 level contesting four finals, winning the North and County Championship Finals and narrowly losing out in the North League Final and now in the East Under 16 Football Final. Well done to each and every player who pulled on the jersey at under 16 level this year. Truly ye were a credit to yereselves and yere families and the Bride Rovers Club.

MINORS BACK IN ACTION.

Our Minor Hurlers are back in action this weekend. On Friday night they take on Cobh in the County Minor A Hurling League semi final. The game will be played under lights in Cobh on this coming Friday night November the 17th at 7.30pm. We've had some great tussles with Cobh at Minor level this season so go for it lads. Ballygarvan await the winners in the County League Final.

Bride Rovers v Cobh in Junior C Final.

Next weekend on either Saturday the 25th or Sunday the 26th of November our Junior C Hurlers will face Cobh in the East Cork Final. The Cobh team had a goods win over Killeagh in their replayed semi final last weekend. It will be Cobh's second team against our third XV so it promises to be a major task for our lads.

Well Done St Catherines & Lisgoold.

Congrats to our neighbours St Catherines on their thrilling one point win over Brian Dillons in the replay of the County JHC Final in Pairc Ui Rinn on Tuesday night of last week. It was a mighty win and well done to all concerned. Unfortunately their Munster Championship campaign was cut short by Tipp's Ballybacon-Grange on Sunday last. The Club of Babs Keating will now face Ardmore in the Munster final with former County Hurlers Seamus Prendergast (Ardmore) facing Brendan Cummins. Lisgoold had a famous win in the County Minor B H C final with a great victory over Newcestown.
