Bride Rovers U14 Girls...

On Saturday afternnon, the under 14 ladies football team lined out at home against Cloyne. This was expected to be a close encounter and so it proved in the first half with just four points dividing the sides at the half time whistle. However, Bride Rovers came out much more focused in the second half and notched up a couple of early goals. From there, they kept the momentum up and won by a substanial margin in the end. Well done to all the players who battled hard for every ball, were strong in defence and showed good passing movement and team work going forward. A special mention to Ruby Hicks who scored five goals and three points!

East Cork League 1st Round, Bride Rovers 2-3 vs Fermoy 1-06  (Draw):

We played our first U12  league game against Fermoy on a glorious Saturday morning in Pairc Na Bride. For the first 10 minutes Bride Rovers were well on top but failed to convert on the score board.  Both teams were well matched and it was nip and tuck all the way with Fermoy pulling away slightly towards full time until a goal from our super wing back Ava Barry levelled the game. All players and subs were excellent and played their hearts out.  Well done girls.

Juniors defeated by St Peters

Bride Rovers 0-08 St. Peters 5-08

The Bride Rovers Junior team suffered there first defeat of the season when going down to St. Peters on a scoreline of 5-08 to 0-08. Playing with a strong wind in the opening half we failed to take advantage of this. St. Peters were off the mark with a goal in their first attack. The Rovers fought back to level matters with points from Jess O'Riordan, Elaine Culloty & Katie Kelleher. However St. Peters took advantage of some poor defending to score 1-03 without reply to take a commanding lead. Three points from team captain Katie Kelleher reduced the deficit to a single goal but St Peters struck back with a goal and point before half to leave the half time score 3-04 to 0-06.

Playing against the wind in the second half we started well with 2 points from Elaine Culloty & Katie Kelleher and while we had ample amounts of possession we failed to score again while St. Peters added a further 2-04.
